I rented from Min K. Choe and he charged me a deposit with a written agreement that I would receive my deposit and interest by law.   He had the use of my hard earned money.  He is a very strange and sinsick man.  He would get drunk and yell and scream at me in front of my clients.   He did not like anyone in "his house".  I researched the deeds in the courthouse and found out that he didn't even own the house.  Guess that's why he didn't build a separate entrance as he did not like clients coming in the door.  He was very sinsick in that, even though a Korean, he would purchase alcohol and not even hide it.  He didn't even have the cashiers put the booze in a bag.  When attempting to socialize with him, he said "I feel uncomfortable".  If you don't want to socialize, why come to America?  Stay in your own country.

Even though, in my state, there are landlord-tenant laws regarding agreements, he broke the agreement in getting a dog without my approval.  He did not keep the dog outside nor even cage the dog.  On the last day of my lease, the dog "camped" by my foot unbeknownest to me.  I accidentally stepped on the dog's leg and nearly broke my ankle.  Then his wife called him, Mr. Min came on and said I had to pay for the vet expenses of the dog!!  He then explained if that was unfair like the phone companies, tough.  I had previously begun to explain to him how the phone companies steal from the customer.  He didn't even want to hear it.  He has no desire to learn!  So he dreamed up an imbecilic statement that it was unfair, tough.  No, tough on him as he would have owed me if I had to go to the emergency room.  It was his sin in getting the dog without my permission.  He made the lie on the day he was to return my deposit with interest as an excuse not to pay.

Mr. Min further expected me to help out on the electric even though he did not turn the air conditioner to an adequate level during a hot spell.  it was so hot I could not work because it was 85 F in the house.  Furthermore, he got drunk in front of his young child at 3AM keeping me awake.  I was unable to go to work due to lack of sleep and feeling ill due to his boisterousness.  Mr. Min is so naive he in 20 years still will not have figured out that I could've called the cps gestapo and they would have stolen his kid!

When the time came for the lease to be concluded, he did not return my deposit with interest on the day of my scheduled departure.  He further had his wife demand the key.  After several attempts to call him, he finally answered the phone.  I politely asked for my deposit plus interest.  Mr. Min said "you know what?  You're crazy".  It's my money and I'm the one who's "crazy"?!   He stated that there was a stain on the carpet.   Mr. Min is chronically sarcastic.  Like he has that right when he's a foreigner.  He is to respect and be honorable and civil as Americans are.  He is an idiot and abominable.  Mr. Min further said "why do you expect interest?"   I mean, does the guy know ANYTHING about inflation, the time value of money, the fact that he had the use of my hard earned money?

But the main reason I am publishing is because, in many jurisdictions, the court system is exceedingly corrupt.  When I attempted to present my case to the judge, after paying an outrageous small claims court fee, the judge referred our case to arbitration!!  Having respect for the court, I agreed.  The judge stated to go at 1:30.  I did and the clerk said Min showed and I didn't.  What!!  So I had to re-file.  The judge LIED and said he clearly pointed out what time I was to go to mediation.  The judge has refused to reopen my case.  I share this because I do not want this to happen to others.  Landlords/landladies are, in the main, filthy greedy and, the majority of the time, make up lies for not refunding deposits.  It will cause problems, but every state needs to pass a law FORBIDDING landlords/landladies from assessing deposits.  Most in the evil deceit and vileness of their hearts have no intention whatsoever of refunding.  I went to the state board about all this and they referred me to the local board, of which there was none in the jurisdiction I was living in at that time.

Like he has that right when he's a foreigner.  He is to respect and be honorable and civil as Americans are.  He is an idiot, arrogant and abominable.  "There is nothing more frightening than ignorance in action".  Mr. Min further said "why do you expect interest?"  I mean, does the guy know ANYTHING about inflation, the time value of money, the fact that he had the use of my hard earned money?    So I imitated Mr. Min's abominable sarcasm and said"  "a stain?  Use stain remover".   The carpet was as old as the house.  Min did not replace prior to renting the room.  The carpet was frayed, ragged and in very a very poor state.  I did not "stain" the carpet.   Then Mr. Min said it cost $607.00!!   I checked with an expert who lays and replaces carpet for a living.  He stated that a section would cost 100.00;  150.00 worst case.   So Mr. Min got caught.  Be sure your sin will find you out.

Landlords/ landladies are, in the overwhelming number of rentals month to months rentals, leases, etc, filthy greedy and, the majority of the time, make up lies for not refunding deposits.   This will cause problems, but every state needs to pass a law FORBIDDING landlords/landladies from assessing deposits.  Most landlords/ landladies in the evil deceit and vileness of their hearts have no intention whatsoever of refunding "security' deposits.  Security for whom?   Not the tenant.   I went to the state board about all this and they referred me to the local board, of which there was none in the jurisdiction I was living in at that time.   The state AG will always say to go a local regulatory first and attempt to receive satisfaction before calling his/her office.

The law that EVERY state must pass that I mentioned before must include that the tenant has the option to make the repairs.  This is not appropo in my case, as Min did not inspect the premises in my presence.   Nevertheless I make mention  because, in the vast majority of incidences the landlord will pay the most outrageous "price" for the repair {make sleazy deals with their friends; split the robberies} in a surreptitious attempt to bilk most or all of the tenants deposits.  Mr. Min did not ask me to make the repair as no repair was needed.  Landlords are very callous, brazen, underhanded and deceitful regarding this.  In point of fact, I have never heard nor read of any consumer report exposing this sneaky, underhanded coverup that landlords/landladies commit.
