Saw Dr. Sorelle for trigger finger in March 2015. He readily convinced me that I hade carpel tunnel syndrome (CTS) even though I never had any symptoms of it. I saw this doctor for a trigger finger. He ordered an EMG that reported negative for CTS, with 'no evidence of nerve entrapment'. Dr. Sorelle said EMG's have 10% false negative results, tapped a couple of places on my hand and arm and insisted I had it and that it would only get worse. In fact, told me that I had it in both hands and wanted to do surgery on both at the same time. Fortunately I had enough common sense to say "Only one at a time". (Almost funny if not so sad... he walked next to me on the gurney as I was wheeled into the OR and said "it's not too late to do both hands". Luckily I wasn't woozy enough, and was able to say NO.)
I had surgery for both trigger finger and CTS of my left hand the end of March. It is now mid-September 2015. I have had pain since this surgey, such burning pain that I can't hold an object that weighs more than 5 lbs without burning pain in that wrist. When I saw this MD for post-op appointments and told him of the pain I was having, his jaw fell, he looked surprised, and said he didn't know why. Terrifying for a patient who just had surgery with him. He offered NSAID's, and finally hand therapy. Hand therapy helped with stiffness from the trigger finger but the burning wrist pain continues. His office (son, I believe.. same name) called me every few weeks wanting to schedule the other hand. I finally told him to never call me again and told him how much pain I was in.
I decided to see another hand surgeon 2 weeks ago. To my dismay, this MD said he does not 'treat' someone for problems with surgeries done by another physician. I think I may be stuck with this pain, and feel terribly depressed over the fact that I never had any pain or discomfort whatsoever that would indicate carpel tunnel syndrome in the first place. How foolish of me to be talked in to a surgery by a surgeon who is a great salesman, even complimented himself on how busy his office lobby is, always filled with patients.
I requested my EMG report, opertive report and MD office notes just before I went to see this other surgeon. My own jaw fell open this time as I read from every one of his post-op notes "No chief complaint recorded". This doctor lies and is dangerous to the public. Furthermore, he took x-rays of my hands at my 1st visit and told me that my hands looked good, very little if any arthritis. Having visited this second opinion surgeon recently (and having had more x-rays of my hand), I was told I have very bad arthritis in my hand and thin bones in the hand as well, recommending a bone strengthening prescription medication. But again, he won't treat me for a problem or complication from this surgery.
I have never complained about or reported any physician before. This is just too much this time, and the public needs to know... no matter what this doctor tells you, don't be me... get another opinion !!!!! In fact, don't ever see him in the first place.
