I worked here for over 3 yrs. and I noticed a lot of gross things about the tortillas made here. First of all in the flour plant there is a Siloh that feeds the flour making machinery. It is cleaned only once a year. There are filters in the siloh that filter out all the contamination like trash, insects, and worms before these contaminants enter the machinery. This makes it nice for the naked eye. You can't see what was in the flour before it turned into a tortilla. It's like dumping a turd in your food and then removing it.

One out of every 20 pallets, is inspected for Quality Control. Every pallet contains about 1,000 packages of tortillas. There are so many things found on the tortilla packages. Chewed gum, insects, pubic hairs, dirt, coins, pieces of wood chips, etc. Pople in the food making process are just slapped in the hand and asked to be careful. I've seen many times in the packaging, that packages slip and the tortillas fall on the dirty floor. People just pick them up, dust em', and finish packing them. This is so gross! Most people go to the restrooms and since they are timed, they don't wash their hands properly. I actually saw a few people scratch their privates while handling and packaging the tortillas. I guess this gives tortillas their special taste.

When product is expired in large quantities and it gets returned to the warehouse, it is inspected for moss. If the food hasn't turned green, they just repackage and change the expiration date on the package, and resend them out to the convenient stores here locally. What a way to save food cost! The two plants and warehouse are infested with bugs and rodents. At least they are doing something about it though. They have about 50 rat traps in each plant. I wanted to bring this up because I thought it was gross. I stopped eating tortillas in general because of this. Especially when I found out that most of our local food businesses are supplied by Mission Foods tortillas. Mission Foods also makes tortillas for Albertson, Best Buy, Taco Bell, and other places I wasn't ablet to discover.

I just want to bring the word out and let people judge them selves everytime they open a package of these tortillas. If they have weird colors, its not part of the deal. If there are black spots on your tortillas, they are not burnt, they just fell to the ground. They don't always get picked up within the 5 second rule. If this doesn't gross you out and stop you from eating these gross tortillas, then at least check them before you eat them.

the only reason that you have that statement is because you are only their once a year and get the royal treatment and end up leaving with a goody bag. when aib or brc or osha and state come to audit they would always give a heads up from other mission foods facility's or that saying you scratch my back and ill scratch yours, they would also provide what it each auditor will be asking.

what kind of following rules does this company represent if they only do them once a year and to top it off the majority off management team are basically below level in school and if they are their is because they have been their for far to long and thats how end up being managment material.

the supervisors are yet the worse they are their to supervise and work along with the team yet they stand their just to talk and flirt with the ignorant girls that think they can give them a better position but then they get tired of them and go off with another one, they might take her out off the line and buy her a coffe lunch or take her outside to their car and come bcak an hour later.

but since no one says something the top management will never know, also mission foods states that they are their for the hard working people and their family but they are so stingy that they want to pay their lunch and the only one's that get paid their lunch time are office people and who ever kississ up the most.

I just read what this person said about this company. I have been visiting the Mission plants for many years as well as all the other large bread makers in the world. What this person is saying is ridiculous. Mission Foods has the highest standard of quality assurance in the industry. I have been in all the Bakeries including the one in El Paso Texas. Mission Foods has the cleanest plants of any that I have ever been in. It is not uncommon for a plant not to ever clean there silos. Mission cleans theirs usually twice a year. The Mission Plants has dehumidifiers on their silos so there is never any moister in them. Some plants like Campbell Soup never clean out there silos, yes that is rite never. Mission cleans there sifters at least once every week. If Mission Foods was to discover a bug problem they would be on top of it trying to stop it. As far as if some one dropped something on the floor and put it back into a mix or a package and management found out about it they would be terminated. Oh! If some one took old product out of a package and put it into a new package they would be terminated. What this person saying is just not true. The whole food industry does not operate the way this persons says that this company operates. First let me tell you about an inspection that all the large bakeries go through including Mission foods. This is an inspection performed by the American Institute Of Baking. (AIB) This is an independent test that these company subject there self's to. The money that it cost to have these inspection done, these company's pay for it. They are scored on many different things. To get a low AIB score is very bad. I do not know what kind of AIB scores the El paso plant received from AIB. I will assure you that if they wasn't good enough management would not be happy. I think that this person that says all the bad things about this company is just a disgruntled ex employee. And if the things this person says are true it was because of them sabotaging the product with out management knowing....
