A 33-year old car with only 60K miles. I don't think so.
A 33-year old car with no rust. Not likely.
A 33-year old car with all options functioning. Possibly.
You didn't check the oil level or other fluids for six months. I would be embarrassed to admit that.

Hey Fred B....
Flynrider made great points...he usually does. Your response? Since you don't like the fact he hit the nail directly on the head, he was right on target...you have ZERO case! You know beyond a shadow of a doubt he is 100% right. But since you are so immature and void of common sense, Flynrider must work for them, right?
How sorry can you get!!!

"You bought a 30+ yr. old car sight unseen. Not a smart move."
The words BUY WITH CONFIDENCE , RIGERIOUS INSPECTION , WE HAVE OUR REPUTATION TO PROTECT. Then they need to remove these words from their sales page.
"What I find unbelievable is that you didn't bother to inspect your purchase until approximately six months after you bought it? How is anyone supposed to take that claim seriously?"
The car is garage kept, driven only 4 times. It ran beautifully. It wasn't until It started acting up that I lifted the hood to see what was up, and then discovered the rust.
"How is it that YOU missed them for six months? You seem to expect more of others than you do of yourself."
They also had the car for a long period of time a missed it too. I expect of others, the same, as of me. Honesty,Credibly, Truth, Disclosure.
"Common sense would tell me that every buyer would do the same thing. Apparently not!"
Apparently! neither did motorcar portfolio. They claim they didn't see it either.
"If you're going to buy cars without seeing them and relying on a used car salesman's word (really?), this is the kind of car you should expect. Cars like these are sold long distance to people who do not bother to do their due diligence before the purchase. You need to change your buying methodology or this will happen over and over."
This statement says a lot, and only reflects badly on you.
I know that you are connected to MOTORCAR PORTFOLIO in some way. Friend, family, or employee. Its very transparent!.

I'm sorry for Mr. Parkers buyers remorse. I remember several conversation with Mr. Parker prior to the purchase of this car, but i see no need to slender anyone. I did not lie to Mr. parker. I represented this 30 year plus old car the best way I could. Remember it wasn't a $12,000 78 T-Bird It was a $5,995 T-Bird that was discounted to $5,295. I've been selling cars since 1992, & have been involved in more deals then most people could even think of, & I have met more dishonest customers then I have salesmen. Anyone doing that much business is going to run into a few people that are not happy. I'm proud to say, that is what I have ran into over my 16 plus years in the business, just a FEW unhappy customers. Not an easy task in the used car business. How ever we concede again. We have located inner fenders for Mr. Parkers 78 T-Bird, & they will be shipped to his door step.

Parker has accepted the offer to obtain some inner fender panels for him from a dry state. We will start the search immediately and have them shipped direct to him. I have explained carefully that it may be within days, or take longer due to availability. Also that these will be rust free, "used" parts that may need cleaned up or even painted from a auto salvage. A solution we would have cheerfully offered had he called in a civil manor. He attack on us was uncalled for, we would have attempted to make this right with him either way. Phone rants? Look at the length of his emails, I don't think I need to say any more than that. We are human we can miss something on a car. We protect our reputation and try make any problem that is right within reason. Personally on my own cars, I check the oil, water, trans fluid, etc etc. every few weeks. That requires opening a hood many times during a six month period. Anyway, glad this has been worked out and Parker will have some fender panels to add to his Thunderbird soon.

First, I am sorry to hear about your family member.
I never had an issue with the car. I like it very much. The issue is one of principle, and ethics. I SPECIFICALLY asked TOM if the car had any rust. He said NO. I trusted you people, based on you own words, in your advertisement--RIGOROUS INSPECTION BY A TECH and BUY WITH CONFIDENCE, LONG DISTANCE PURCHASES MADE EASY. To me, this implies that you are trustworthy. I was raised to believe in people, a family value that I hold very dear. I believed in you, and trusted you. I wound up with the short end of the deal. Now, as far as the 6 months goes--The car is kept in my garage. I drive it rarely-maybe 4 times since I got it, to keep the mileage low--I know you understand this. The other thing, about the rust getting worse. Not true-- The car was purchased in the spring,.I live in N.C. this has been the hottest, driest summer on record in 60 yrs. When the car was delivered, my pastor had driven me to pick it up. It ran so quietly and smooth, you wouldn't know it was running, and -NO- the locks did not work!, but I let it go. There was no reason to lift the hood. The car ran beautifully, and then when it started acting up. I thought may be it needs a tune up. The carb's on these things are crappy. Thats when I lifted the hood started to look around and saw the rust--cant miss it. My hear sank. I was fuming!. Rust like this is pre- existing, it did not happen in 6 moths, that I had the car. There is no Salt or SNOW on the roads here. Its summer!
When I called you the first time. It was to let you know what I discovered, and find out why this was never disclosed!. Your own words on the sales page jumped out at me. The message you left on my answering machine, didn't help either. To me, you were looking for a way out, which said to me, you were aware of the rust.
When, you hung up on me, and I called back. Tom said you left for the day. Then when I called back again about 45 min later, your receptionist said you were with customers. How can YOU have any credibility, when both lied to me, and then you wouldn't return my calls. WHAT DID YOU EXPECT. The part about RANTING on the phone is subjective at best, and is grossly inflated. We both know that.
NOW; we can continue this drama OR we can settle it like to reasonable adults. The whole point of this was to make you aware of what I found that I wasn't happy about it. You for some reason, chose to take it way out into left field, with the comments of "as is" and its been months. Instead of I'm sorry, and how can we remedy this. You would have found that I am very easy to work with, and this whole matter would have never come to this!.
Let me end this with, I will accept your offer, it is reasonable and fair. (which is what I wanted from the beginning). I never wanted or thought it would have come to this, but when I feel I have been mislead, I stand my ground and fight. I will let you know ,that I will respond to you rebuttal on ripoff---Including the first one, consumer customer. (ARE YOU KIDDING)
I suggest trying DESSERT VALLEY AUTO PARTS, in AZ.
I kept you, and your family in my prayers today, in church. I wish you and yours the best in this trying time.
Thank You,
Parker .

We are human, we missed spotting the inner fender rust that Parker mentions. However, it was "six months ago" It could have gotten worse in that length of time. Other non-working items he claims were working the last time I saw and drove the car. Again, it was a low priced antique car, it was old, in nice condition but things do fail, no warranty was offered or given, and Parker opted to not come see the car in advance of buying it. He opted to not have an appraiser or representative look it over for him. He told the truck driver on deliver that the car was delightful and he was happy with it. It has taken him six months to lift the hood for the first time. How can anyone own a car six months without even looking under the hood, and the decide the car is junk and the dealer a crook?
He has repeated call in hysterical, abusive phone calls, ranting of retribution and asking for no specific settlement. He will not permit others on this end to engage in the phone car and yes, one must hang up on him to end the rant.
Yes, we do mark up shipping, no different than we must make a fair profit on the car itself. Profit is not a dirty word and not unfair. Parker would have been welcome to arrange his own shipping, but at the time he was more worried about getting all costs included in the purchase price he was financing with is credit union.
In the spirit of fair play, even though we have on file both the Federal and Ohio "As Is" forms Parker signed at the time of purchase six months ago. We are offering to purchase from a Southwestern used parts provider, a pair of rust free inner fenders at our expense, have them shipped to him where he can at his expense have them bolted in. (inner fender shields are bolt in items). Considering the time that has past and his lack of due diligence up front I think this is a super fair offer. He has yet to respond.

" I told him to choke on the money, because they were fully aware of the rust holes( YOU CANT MISS THEM!). "
How is it that YOU missed them for six months? You seem to expect more of others than you do of yourself.
"Heres the thing: Every car dealer will lift the hood and look at the engine compartment, when purchasing or taking in a trade. "
