Movers on Demand, Toronto Mo-Movers, This company quoted $160 for a move, came 40 minutes late and cited a range of additional charges ($40 for each flight of stairs per person, $ 80 for a heavy object, $45 for travel time, toronto, Ontario Canada
My daughter needed to move a dresser, a chair and some bags of clothing home - 7 kilometers down the street. I called Mo-movers who said their minimum charge was $160 for 2 hours. That seemed more than enough. They arrived 40 minutes late for the appointment and then told my daughter there would be additional charges. $40 for the dresser (it was heavy) $45 for travel time, $160 for 2 men to walk up 2 flights of stairs and $25 for the visa. Because the new tenant was moving into the building and there was no time to rearrange the move, she agreed. It cost $425 to move a dresser, chair and some garbage bags.
Mo movers falsely advertises and counts on time strapped people to simply agree to the ridiculous extra charges. The total move, including driving time, was completed in 2 hours. I really wish I had read some of the reviews on the web before hiring them. They scored a whopping 1 out of 10 points based on 10 reviews so its clear that ripping people off is what they do best.
They are part of a larger company - movers on demand - who have a similar reputation. Too bad I did not check here first!
