I went to Mr. Johns last year because I wanted a new look for the new year. I also had heard them advertise on the christian radio come in and get a fresh new make over.

So I made an appointment and ask to see a hair dresser that had been there a while. Well I got a woman named PAM!

My hair is blond and past my shoulders in length.. I wanted to add low lights and ask her if she could do so.

I even told her if you dont think my hair will turn out just give me a health trim.

She was said" oh I can do it..We got new color product that will work just great on your hair."

So after setting through hours of foiling and coloring PaM rinsed my hair and it was gray and purple ! I started to cry and so did my 16 year old daughter that was with me!

she said let me put some stipper on it and get rid of the color. So Pam over processed my hair and poured stripper on it.. which left if a light purplish color.

I said I am leaveing! You said you knew what you where doing and your runt my hair!

I called over the Owner and he just said you dont have to pay for it! I said I woulnt consider paying $80.00 thats what Pam charges to low light !

I left. I called back and complained more to Mr. John and he said I could come back and let them try and fix it! I said no way I wasnt lettting them touch my hair again.

He was rude and said there was nothing he could do!

I went to wal-mart bought a box of loreal and colored my hair and had 4 inches cut of and layers added to cut off what PAM had fried! She is a dark haired lady in her early 40's!

She is a jerk!

So If you ever want low lights or any color please avoid her!

I have about 20 people that seen what she did to me!

Let me explain

This is very sad, but let me explain what happened. I am a hairdresser and once did this in my early "learning" years. See, every color has a "undertone" color of purple, blue or neutral. There are also "undertone" colors of red and orange, but these are rarely used. Say someone has dark or medium brown hair and wants to go blond. A blond color with a undertone of blue would be used. The undertone blue would counteract the red as the hair gets lighter and the end result would be blond, not strawberry blond. Most people need these undertone blues and purples to counteract the red.

But blonds are different. Blonds don't need the undertones of blues and purples to counteract red. You see, whether you went lighter or darker, there is no stage where your hair would have turned red, so the proper thing for her to do would have been to use a light brown shade with NEUTRAL undertone. No purple or blue. Unfortunately for you, she just didn't know this and was not experienced in color. It was an honest mistake and you shouldn't be calling her a jerk on a global forum. When I did this, in the eighties, I am thankful there was no internet yet.

This is bound to happen again to you, as many new stylists don't know that blond hair is tricky. (Most people try to go blond from a darker color, not the other way around) So in the future, make sure you tell your stylist to choose a brown or blonde (or whatever color you want) with a NEUTRAL base color(undertone). No purple or blue. Hope this helps.

I have been going to this salon for over 4 years with excellent results.  This happened to me once somewhere else and was horrible so it happens.  This is a wonderful salon with good products and caring stylists, especially Mr. John.

It's really horrible what happened to your hair, but I don't see how they ripped you off. It's obvious that the stylist didn't do a good job on your hair, but they didn't make you pay for it. What else did you want them to do? It sounds like the owner did what he could to help you. You just got a very crappy service that they didn't make you pay for. It happens all the tme.

From the sounds of your email, you were not ripped off!

You are simply a disgruntled issues-laden broad who also cannot spell worth a flying hoot. Anyway, when they ruined your hair they (1) did not make you pay for the services received AND (2) offered to fix the problem, also for FREE. You claim that the manager was rude to you. Oh you poor little thing, he was so incredibly rude to offer to give up hours of his time and lost income to accommodate your new frizzy purple hair style. Just because you chose not to accept his generous offer does not mean that you were ripped off! You simply look like a fool in sheep's clothing, or should I say in purple dinosaur's clothing! Tootle-loo!
