Muir Wood Adolescent and Family Services Muir Wood Teen Treatment Misled By Staff During Visit, Horrible Communication With The Staff Petaluma California
Before we enrolled our son in this program we went to visit. When we were there we got a lot of positive support and attention. The same was true on the day that we enrolled him.
That was the last day that we had any decent communication with the staff. Calls went unreturned. People who answered the phone didn't have answers to questions, and honestly didn't seem to know what was going on with our kid.
The program seemed to be staffed with non-professionals. Professionals only popped in to provide some services. Very little about our experience at Muir Wood was what we had been led to believe that it would be.

I am the Founder of Muir Wood and take such comments quite seriously. At Miur Wood, parents (and the clients) complete a comprehensive survey at the completion of treatment. Miur Wood has one of the highest approval ratings of any treatment program. I would be happy and willing to share these surveys with anyone. In regards to this specific report, what I find odd is that the supposed parent from Oregon claimed that there was a lack of communication with staff.
Unlike most treatment programs, Muir Wood has weekly individual family therapy with a Masters-level, licensed therapist, a full-day every Saturday family program with Masters-level or doctorate level clinicians, twice weekly inidvidual therapy with a Masters-level therapist who also provides a weekly written update via emial to parents, a weekly progress report provided via email to parents from our Masters-level, state credentialed teacher updating parents on weekly academic progress, and our clinical team and administrative team (including the Executive Director, Clinical Director, and Medical Director) provide families with our personal mobile phone numbers and let them know we are availabile 24/7/365. No other program that I know of (and I've been in this field for 30+ years) does this.
In regards to the comment that there are "non-professionals" at Muir Wood, I ask anyone to review our Staff page on our website which is updated frequently and accurate. All of our therapists are Masters-level, our psychiatrist double and or triple board-certifiied, our Chair of Addiction Medicine was the past Medical Director for the State of California Alcohol and Drug Programs and Past President of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, our teacher is Masters-level, multiple subject, state of CA credentialed, neuropsychologists that are some of the most respected psychologists in the field, etc., etc. If this report is indeed true (and not a hoax or a negative review written by a competitor -whiich is unfortunately something that happens in our field), my hope is that the person who wrote this reach out to me directly.
