Mulcare Construction, CJ Mulcare, Chris Mulcare Rip-off Fraudulent General Contractor Dumont New Jersey
Three families (myself included) had the unfortunate experience of using Chris Mulcare/CJ Mulcare/Mulcare Construction. Mr. Mulcare does business out of Northern New Jersey. In the three situations I know of, he screwed:
One family out of tens of thousands of dollars when he abandoned a job One family out of tens of thousands of dollars by failing to complete the job then being removed from the job.
Embezzling almost $200,000 out of a family for a job he never completed.
Mr. Mulcare apparently doesn't pay his employees or subcontractors. This of course has effects on the customers. He workmanship is marginal at best.
If you choose to work with him, good luck. However, I suggest you do the following:
1- Get a finish date on your contract with him and penalize him a certain amount per day if he fails to meet that date.
2- Dont give him too much money. As long as you owe him more money than the work that needs to be done, the better off you are.
3- Keep a close eye on his workmanship. If something looks wrong ask him to fix it immediately. He is banking on your frustration to finish the job that you won't complain about poor work.
I hate to say it because Mr. Mulcare does come across as a nice guy. This is a deception and the bottom line is that he is a crook. I hear some rumblings that he may be prosecuted.
