Did your daughter sign the paper that says something to the effect of "I understand that this vehicle is being sold "as is" with no implied warranty blah, blah, blah...". It's a common document in most states. The federal government has addressed this issue by requiring used car dealers to post a "buyers guide" form, which clearly states whether or not the vehicle is being sold with a warranty. The form must be posted in plain sight anytime the vehicle is offered for sale. You can see a copy at: www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/resources/forms/buyers.pdf If this dealer is not following the law, I'd report him to the FTC.
