The information provided in this report is based on comments made by John Musca, Harley Brook, and Rebecca Sonalia during an onsite inspection held by a third party verification company with no biases toward Musca Law.

During the onsite interview, John Musca and his fellow attorneys Harley Brook, and Rebecca Sonalia, were asked to describe a situation where a client was not satisfied with the level of service they received. Mr. Brook explained that working in the criminal defense industry leads to having a clientele with a certain level of expectations that may or may not be realistic to their situation. Ms. Sonalia went into greater detail about an individual client's experience, "A particular client wanted to make some of the legal decisions regarding her case against our advice. We could have minimized the effect of this event on her life, but she was focused on one thing and essentially forced us into a direction that we did not think was in her best legal interests.” Mr. Musca went on to add, "we specifically resolved it by offering ourselves and our services available to her for any purpose going forward. We remained on the case during a time after her case was resolved for the purpose of helping her with her probation and helping her with anything else she needed. That’s going the extra mile following up well after our legal responsibility had been concluded.”

 I am a mother who has recently found herself homeless with two kids, since my fiance had been picked up by immigration. My fiance has been detained and I was told to do my best to hire a lawyer. I contacted Musca Law in Orlando Florida and I was told to pay them 2000.00 and they will help me. I had to borrow the money in the hopes that they would be able to help in lowering my fiance's charges which will release him from the detention center. I could only pay 1500.00 and they said well, we will do research and see what we can do from there.

I waited a week and he had no information for me, and began asking me redundant questions. Three weeks later no call again, so I called, after being given the run around and me having to remind him of my case he tells me "oh, yea there's nothing we can do sorry when will he be deported?" I was stunned by his response so I asked him did you contact the courts where is the research that was done. He said he threw it away.

I told him I'm homeless with a infant and a teen, is there any money left from the 1500.00 he said no, we used it all. I asked for a copy of the research so that I can try and see what else can be done and he told me oh give me a few days I will call you back and have the info. I waited he never called I called again, and I said I don't know anywhere you can go and spend 1500 and have nothing to show for it. He laughed. The main lawyer I dealt with is Mark Menser. My family and especially my kids can use that money to get real help. I found out through other lawyers and legal aids that I can get help for him and what can be done. Now this lawyer obviously did no research and just took my money.

Thank you Mark Menser for leaving a rebuttal. Your false accusations of me have been duly noted. If you had done your research would have never of left such a ridicules, yet highly imaginative rebuttal. Since defending myself to a liar is a waste of time. I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes from Winston Churchill.

"The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is." ~ Winston Churchill

You can say what ever lie you chose about me and my fiance, but in the end you will have to face the consequences of your actions and accept the truth.

By the way, your little sad praise to yourself at the end of your rebuttal was most amusing, 36 years being a criminal lawyer, and you're verbally attacking and slandering a person who went to you for help. That can't possible be the making of a respectable lawyer.

I was not going to dignify the false report until the follow-up was submitted.   The truth is as follows:

1. The complainant contacted us because her boyfriend (and father of her newest child) was being deported.  She asked us to see whether we could gain his release by challenging  an unrelated state conviction. (She and her boyfriend had been involved in drug dealing).

She hired us to research whether he had a case, and to give her an opinion.  Nothing more.  We explained that we could not and would not file any petitions on behalf of her boyfriend without his authorization.  We were simply providing HER with an opinion. 

2. The boyfriend received a very favorable plea deal from the state, avoiding prison, and at no time expressed any  interest in withdrawing his plea or going to jail  (which would result in his deportation anyway).  He never appealed from his conviction or sentence.  Regardless of any proceedings in the State Courts, "Romeo" is an illegal alien and a drug dealer who would not be released from federal custody evenif a state court, for reasons unknown, set aside his plea deal.   

3. Research into the case found no basis for challenging  his voluntary plea.  

4.  The Complainant was fully advised of all this in a lengthy personal phone conference.  She insisted that a state-court judge told her that he could fix things and obtain Romeo's release from federal custody (complete nonsense and a lie). 

5. Two months after  we closed this file the Complainant called demanding a refund  because we did not file a lawsuit.  We were threatened with phony complaints that would ruin our reputation unless we provided a  refund.  She was upset that her boyfriend was leaving the USA and sticking her with supporting the baby.  The catalyst was an apparent problem meeting her rent.   The call came while the attorney was out of town , in a jury trial  in a major case in federal court in another city.  The attorney could not interrupt the trial to return an extortion call.

6. The Complainant  said that she had spoken to other law firms who claimed she had a great case (but would never name these alleged law firms).

7.    When we did have the phone conference the Complainant admitted it was a shake-down  but felt that people would pity a "mom" and naturally fault the lawyer.  We were given the opportunity to buy-off this complaint. 

7. Not once have we heard from the boyfriend , who apparently has no interest in what his ex-girlfriend is doing. 

8.  We are truly sorry that the Complainant got herself into a jam , and she is stuck with a baby and a vanishing boyfriend, but her frustration should be directed towards him.  It is not our fault she is in trouble. 

9.  Mark Menser  has an outstanding record of 36 years and he carries an AV-Rating.   The complaint filed herein is pure libel., and it is unfortunate that his reputation should be smeared in this manner.

Update: Musca Law Firm, Orlando Fl

On October 5th, 2012 I was contacted by the Musca Law Firm. They set up a phone conference with Mark Menser and John Musca . I was able to explain to John Musca what I experience dealing with Mr. Menser. And then Mark Menser got to explain his part. Mark Menser spent most of his time speaking down to me, calling me a lair and accusing me of playing some sort of game. John Musca was upset because he felt that I should have came to him before making a post on the Ripoff Report. He even told me he will not refund my money because I made a report on this site. So John Musca is punishing a displaced (homeless) mother who has two children to care for one of which is an infant.

 Here's the thing, If I'm an employee of any place and a customer is upset with me and leaves an irate conversation stating that they will go over my head because they are upset with my services. You bet your life I'm calling them back right away and I'm contacting my supervisor. Now this is not a store that i purchased a crappy product from this is a law firm I went to , to ask for help. There are no set guide lines on how to handle this situation if my lawyer is Mark Menser then thats who I need to speak to. Mark Menser never called me back and when both John and I asked him why all that could be heard was crickets. He's a grown man and all that i ask for was the report /something to show for the 1500 i spent there or refund my money because obviously you did nothing.   He said that some of the things I had said were true and some were lies. I don't need to lie or over-exaggerate all I have to do is tell the truth. Mark Menser was disrespectful to me throughout the entire conversation. He did not and does not care or have any remorse for his actions. I am greatly disappointed in this law firm. If you are in a desperate sitution fighting for your loved one don't go to this law firm they only care about lining their pockets with your money. My fiances case is simple and all that needs to be done could have been done months ago. There is no integrity at this law firm. I don't want anyone to be in my situation and to be spoken to the way that I was spoken to and treated as if I'm not human. At times they made me feel like I could be intimidated because I am a woman. This is not the 1950's no woman should be spoken down and treated that way. I would have respected them more if he called and apologized and refunded all of my money without offering me his services again. Then I would have had a positive update and conclusion to this situation.   However near the end of the conversation John Musca said that he does care about my situation and I will be contacted on Monday (October 8, 2012) to see how we can resolve the situation.  John Musca then proceeded to put me on hold while he ended the call with Mark Menser and the Parallegal who assisted the call. This was his exact words. "Now I know who you are. Find a way to take down that report." He spoke in a very threatening way. I guess this was meant to intimidate me. Again I guess John Musca not only likes to punish a  mother in bad situation, but threaten her too. Great morals!

Monday came and went it is now October 17th, and no one has called. So again I gave this law firm ample time to contact me, and they have chosen not too. They have poor communication skills, no ethics, no integrity. Do your due diligence and find a respectable lawyer. I have hired lawyers in the pass and never had this problem. They were respectable and they did as they said they would do and when the case was over they sent me a report stating how many hours they work on my case and any information that may have been important for me to know. I never recieved anything from Mark Menser just a laugh when I asked where would you go and spend 1500.00 and have nothing to show for it?

To say I'm just disappointed is an understatement. I feel like a rape victim after dealing with The Musca Law Firm.
