In 1998 I purchased my home with $40,000.00 down payment, leaving a $121,000 to finance. My bank at the tim First Bank qualified my loan with National City Mortgage at Prime rate 6 3/4 with me paying i pt to get this great rate at the time. So far no problem. I settled in Oct 15, 1998 with the promise that my first payment would be due in Jan 1, 1999, since I was under contract with my landlady to finish my lease till the end of the year, which was planned out that way when I purchased my home. Still so far no problems.

I rec'd my coupon payment book from NCM in Nov, showing my first payment due Dec 1,1998---now the problem begins!!! I call my banker, and NCM. They both say no problem, just ignore it we will fix it on our end. I decide to pay my mortgage a month early to get a good start, which compounds the problem, I send my payment in on December 5, with the Jan 1 coupon, gettin the picture yet? Followin month Feb 1 I am using March 1 coupon, etc etc. up until Dec 1999, I decide since I am a month early, and Christmas is making finances tight since all my sons are having babies at once I will wait and pay my mortgage on time and not in advance.

Well, now my hell begins, NCM starts calling me after 15 days asking where my payment is I tell them I am not lat tell the story, no record of the correction of Jan payment to change instead of Dec. I call My banker, he no longer works there because the bank was bought out by another bank. I go visit NCM branch office in my hometown, they promise to fix it, meanwhile now my credit reports on my payments each month are stacking up slow pay instead of on time or in advance!!!

Help how do I fix this. NCM has charged me late fees many times even though I am really on time if you go by the Jan payment schedule to have started in 1999.

It should be a small matter to fix, and I should just buckle under and make the extra payment to jump it to clear it up, but to me with the large down payn=ment I made and the request to make my payment start in 1999, and considering all the interest this company is making off of me, I think they should be the ones after all this time gone by, still not fixing this stupid problem, to fix it apologise to me and fix my credit report back in good standing!!!!!!Another consumer RIP OFF!!!!!

unless this was your first purchase of a home, you should know that when you buy or refinance and your loan closes, your first payment is due in the 2nd month. such as... it closes in march, your first payment is due in may. there is no getting around that. that is a industry standard, not just national city mortgage. now if the loan rep told you that, then he was misinformed and that's on him not the company.
