I had recently moved into my apartment on March 3, 2009, located at 1522 Cleveland Ave, Niagara Falls, NY. I contact National Grid to have the services changed from my landlords' name to my name. The representative who handled my call checked to see if I ever had service in New York under my names. She checked my social security number and my telephone number. The representative advised me that I have no service in my name in the State of New York.

In July, 2006, I relocated from Johnstown, PA to Niagara Falls, NY because of marriage, in which is no longer. The property that I relocated to was a house that my ex-husband had purchased at address is 1886 South Ave, Niagara Falls, NY. After residing there for 2.5 years of residing there, the electricity was actively working. On March 3, 2009, I telephone National Grid because the service was disconnected from the pole, according to a representative. She began to inform me that there were many correspondences' sent out to apply for electrical service. Out of the 2.5 years of me and my children residing at the above address, no correspondence was ever received at 1886 South Ave, Niagara Falls, NY from National Grid.

While my children and I were residing at the above address, I was receiving a National Fuel bill, Sprint cell phone bill and Time Warner Cable bill along with correspondences' associated with these companies. When I had asked the representative of National Grid as to where this information was sent, no one could nor would supply me with an adequate answer. If National Grid has any information pertaining to me applying for service at 1886 South Ave, proof of the original information needs to be forwarded to me, immediately including correspondences', original bills to which the address it was sent and any original contracts that may or may not have my signature.

On March 26, 2009, I spoke with another representative in reference to a bill I had received from National Grid. This company was attempting to hold me responsible for past due balance of 7500.00, a bill from 1886 South Ave, Niagara Falls, NY. According to the representative, she stated that I had applied for this service in May, 2006. That was impossible because I was still residing and working in Johnstown, PA. I have never signed a contract between myself and National Grid nor have I ever had contact with National Grid.

I filed a grievance with National Grid and filed a police report with the Niagara Falls Police. The officer I spoke with was Vince Granto. The report number is 13897-09. I sent the grievance back to National Grid. They (National Grid) responded by advising me since I was residing there, I am being held totally responsible for the bill. Not only was I living there, but also my ex-husband and my children. And I am not the home owner of 1886 South Ave. My ex-husband is sole owner of the property.

How is this possible to hold me accountable for this error when I never applied for service from National Grid until March 3, 2009 at my present address 1522 Cleveland Ave, Niagara Falls, NY?? Secondly, National Grid never contacted me with a bill nor application of service for 1886 South Ave, Niagara Falls, NY. National Grid does not have any of my signatures on file nor any conversations between myself and the company.

Now, I have received a disconnection notice from National Grid for June 3, 2009 in the amount of 7500.00. I just received this notification on May 28, 2009.

I would like a resolution to this issue, immediately!

JW1999's response seems to illustrate National Grid's attitude in relationship to consumer problems...the "consumer" is either a thief, wrong, out to scam someone etc. I pity the poor consumer who has to deal with the mentality and callousness of jw1999. I also pity national Grid who may have employed this &*^*-&^.

This person definitely represents national grid. Nothing to be proud of.

Let me get this clear, you lived at 1886 South Ave for 2.5 years, never recieved an electric bill but had electricity, and you thought that you were being billed correctly? They would have sent out many letters to the home, not your mailing address, to bring this to your attention. In fact, I wouldnt be surprised if they had attempted to contact the homeowner with legal documents. I am assuming your meter is in your basement, since it was turned off at the pole.

You would have never gotten service if you owed money from the Cleveland ave address, and since you called in after you were turned off at the South ave address, it does not surprise me that you "failed" to remember the services you used back in 2006. If someone put service in your name at the Cleveland ave address illegally, you should file a dispute. im sure they can locate your call and provide any documents.

My theory is that you called in for service in 2006 for cleveland ave, never paid your bill. moved away. moved back and never paid your bill. and it is finally catching up to you.

any call to the PSC would help you as well, but basically stealing for 2.5 years does not give you much leeway with anyone. AskPSC.com. next time be responsible and do not figure that everything is OK when you are using a service and not getting a bill. maybe thats why our utilitie bills are so high.....
