National Magazine Exchange refusal to discontinue service Clearwater Florida
By calling NME in regards to a sweepstakes prize, the folks who work there will put tremendous pressure on you to purchase their "magazine subscriptions". I have worked for telemarketers before and the people at NME go way beyond the boundaries.
I have called them at least three times to cancel my order. The first time, they cut the four monthly payments of sixty-four dollars and some change down to payments of $22.36 over a longer period of time. The next time I called to cancel they informed me that cancellation is next to impossible because they were under contract from the magazine publishers. I changed credit card carriers and they began to send my letters regarding my account. When I spoke to them on the phone, the woman I talked to was extremely aggravated that I would not provide her with my new credit number or a checking account number. They seemed rather dissatisifed that I wanted a monthly statement in the mail.
I still call periodically to cancel, and I seem to get nowhere with them. When did it become possible for a company to hold you hostage?

We are in the business to TAKE your money! These greedy leeches have never worked a day in their lives, their only purpose in life is to get every dirty dime they can out of your wallet. They train us to keep hounding you callers until you either hang up, or get dupped! That's it, the whole thing is designed to get your money. Good luck (you'll need it).
