I was at home sick from work today, and I checked the mail. I got a letter saying to call a number for a $1,000,000 Sweepstakes offer, the "Strike it Rich IV" Sweepstakes. The number was 1-888-727-6247.

I had been entering alot of these contests in hopes of winning to pay off college, but would stop trying if I had to buy something. I figured this memo was in reference to a complaint I filed with one of those sweepstakes and called.

After confirming my information I was switched to a "supervisor" who then, after much pressuring me, got me to agree to give my credit card number for some magazines and prizes for entering the sweepstakes. I was sick, and he was bothering me, and I gave in to the pressure.

I felt uneasy about the whole thing after he refused to answer my questions about cancelling the subscriptions, so I called my bank to cancel my card. They said I couldn't because of pending transactions, and I'd have to cancel through the company to stop the billing. So I looked the company up on the internet after getting off the phone.

I found websites warning of them as a scam, and was immediately alarmed. I am furious at Publishers Clearing House for sharing the information, and furious at the company for pressuring me into the purchase. I can't even afford what they charged me (over $60).

Don't even go there girlfriend. I worked for this company for about a week and yes it sucked and is a scam, but if you were "up-ed" to the supervisor than that means you selected at least two magazines. Maybe even three, sometimes I wouldn't even let the caller claim the third one, I would just throw in US News and World Report. After we ask you how the weather is, the supervisor comes on and adds two more mags. You can pick them or he or she will just add them. In order to get to the supervisor you have to select magazines. They do go over the billing very well and you are recorded. Don't try to play the "I didn't know what was going on card" and if you think you are only "out" $60, fugetabouit. Wait until you see your credit/bank statement. Please note the close to $300 these aholes have charged you. You have to be pretty simple minded to give out a card number over the phone just because you felt pressured. You are the type this company loves. Peace out.
