My daughter and I hired National Moving Network approx. 8 weeks before estimated move. Sent in the $500 deposit and were told that we could cancel if necessary within 7 days or change the date of the move within the same time frame.

Approximately 2 weeks later we learned that the closing date on her house had been moved up a few days so we changed the dates with the same "estimater" named Zack Woempler. By this time we already had our contract in hand and asked if this could be done verbally or new contract. Zack told my daugher that it would be absolutely no problem that he would change it in the system that day. In the same conversation he said that the movers would be contacting her 5 days prior to the move. The move was now scheduled for June 3rd or 4th.

Five days prior to the move we had not heard a thing from them. When we waited a day or 2 still not hearing she contacted them again and this time spoke with a customer service rep. She informed her that she would not be hearing from the movers until the day prior to the move. When the day prior to the move came and still not hearing from them, contacted them to learn from the customer service rep (after many phone calls either being disconnected or given wrong phone numbers to contact) that the move would not take place until 2 days after her scheduled move. The customer service rep kept reiterating that the original contract said either June 4th or June 5th. When she tried to explain that yes the original contract did say that, however she had changed it long ago with her estimater she said she was sorry there was nothing that could be done. The move was now in motion and there was no changing it. She asked for Zack Woempler several times knowing that he would recall but was of course told she could not speak with him.

After a day of raw nerves trying to change her closing date etc. and trying with this company to change the move yet again, she made several calls resetting up the original closing and hiring another mover. Of course she was told that she would loose her deposit.

After reading of the real horror stories in regards to this company, we were very lucky to rehire another company and pay a little more, prefering to take the $500 hit rather than to go thru with the move with them. They really need to be either taken to court or closed for unethical practices.

The people of this company are the most unprofessional, unethical and incompetent I have ever seen.

Call your CC company for refund of deposit

You don't have to accept the loss of the deposit. Call NMN every day for two weeks. If they still refuse to give you your deposit back, even though they did not honor the contract, then call your credit card company and explain the situation. They might be willing to give you a refund themselves. Good luck!
