I stumbled upon this website and thought I would report this because I am still hurting from loosing my job this time last year.

I was employeed at navy federal credit union for close to a year while steadily advancing with the organization. I was put on a 160 day probationary period because a trainer who was training my class decided to lie and say I was comming to class late and a very disruptive person. The funny part is she made me bring krispy kreme DOUGHNUTS to class one day because I was the last person in class but not even late, also using that in a report given in determination of my termination which I was refused a copy of. (very proffessional huh? come on, doughnuts???)

After I was put on a probationary period I was watched down upon like I was a criminal waiting to be caught. I caught the flu and was sick for a two or three weeks, then had a tooth infection, and also the stress from work wasn't helping seeing that I had recently gotten out in the world on my own and just becoming financially stable with some help from my parents.

So at the end of this being sick issue they decided to terminate me based on a judgment of I didnt call into work EVERY SINGLE DAY that I was out, despite the fact that I was keeping the organization informed on my situation not to mention how many times I went to the doctor just to get an excuse not to return to work because I was sick and they litterally drove me to having panick attacks.

Most of my previous co-workers were supportive but it really seamed as if someone was really out to get me. I thinks it's very unfair and unproffesional to treat someone with such disprespect and effecting their entire life given the information of how this organization was so diverse and caring of their employees.

On a second note, If I abandoned my position, why did I try for six months to get my job back also mentioning reapplying for my position never getting a response back???

Florida is "at will" employment state

At will employment means that they can let you go at any time for what ever reason they want. As far as probationary period and everything else goes I guess you can consult an attorney that specializes in labor to look at your case and see if what you experienced was the result of some kind of discrimination against you or was in retaliation for something you said or did. You should have been able to refute any documentation resulting in your termination. In the end though you should really just move on with your life by getting a job with another financial institution or just a whole other line of work. Why subject yourself to the treatment you would receive if you went back??

family medical leave act

FMLA is a good idea, but has limitations. There are limitations to the Family medical leave act. Sometimes an employer will allow a little leway if they sicerely want you to get better and come back. If not though, you have to know what you say you have is something covered under this act. You can't just have a doctor send in a slip of paper saying you can't come to work because you're not feeling good. There has to be an illness where your not being at work will accelerate your recovery. You can't just say you are stressed at the moment either. In that case you would have to have a generalized diagnosis of depression or acute anxiety disorder. Remember, some phsycological diagnosis' can cause you a lot of headaches down the road. You WILL become labeled and medicaations may even rek havoc on your system and metal health. Finally, if it were in a state which offers unemployment compensation, you,ve jusy disqualified yourself from that by saying you are not able to work. So the rock and the hard place are,,,do you try to collect and move on from your job, OR do you try to keep your not-so-great job, go on medical leave, start considering yourself phsycologically impared, and get ready to ruin your future by branding yourself as having and needing assitance with an acute psycological disorder? I think you need to move onto better things my dear. NCU is after all a place where the corporate mentallity prevails, (do unto others BEFORE they do unto you).

Family Medical Leave Act!

Having went through a situation recently that prevented me from attending work for a week, I can sympathize. I work in the Pensacola area as well, and I was threatened with termination from a supervisor, but upon talking to the Human Resources Department, I found out I could get my doctor to fill out an FMLA form (which states that you cannot work for the specified dates you were out). FMLA protects you from being fired in that case. On the other hand, if you did not call in every single day, they can use it against you(obviously). My own job is the same way in that respect. Try contacting a lawyer to see if it's possible to get recompensated for the loss.
