NCO FINANCIAL SYSTEMS ripoff BOGUS BILLING HORSHAM, Pennsylvania
Today I received a settlement letter from NCO asking me to pay $335 of a $446 bill. This is the first letter I ever received from them and according to the letter its regarding a Sam's Club consumer balance. I have never held a Sam Club card in my life.
Don't credit agency's send you collection letters prior to a settlement request? There is something really bogus about this company, especially since I don't have any outstanding bills as such. I tried calling them a got a recording where they asked for my SSN. Like I would give my SSn to anyone, especially them.

This morning I contacted NCO and talked to a very rude woman. The person who accrued this bill has the same name as me, lived in Arlington, Texas and was born 13 years after me and in a different month. I have never lived in Arlington and have lived at this same address for 13 years. Apparently this company sends collection letters to everyone with the same name in hopes to get a hit.

You were right not to give them your Social Security number. Send them a letter, certified mail, return receipt requested, advising them that this is not your account and they are to not contact you regarding the same. For good measure you might copy and send the same letter to the credit reporting agencies and your state Attorney General's office (make sure NCO knows you are doing this) in case they try to tack it on your credit report later.
