  The company  NTC (New Technology Computer, Inc), 1549 Westminster Ave., Providence, RI  02909  Tel:  (401)621-8889 and (401)331-2052) is not only fraudulent, but it's employees are beyond nasty.  I brought my laptop computer in because it kept shutting down, and also because it couldnt connect to the internet (I kept getting an error message that a network cable (was) unplugged, when it certainly was NOT, as I had a number of technicians from my service provider validate.  Both my modem and my router are new and in perfect working order, yet I keep getting the same error message.

  NTC took my computer on 2/11/2010 to fix it.  When I picked it up the next day, they said the fan was dirty, and there was a virus they needed to wipe out.  It sounded like a reasonable explanation to me, so I paid them the $50 they charged, and took my computer home.

  I got the computer home, and discovered it to be wiped clean of EVERYTHING. There wasnt even a browser on it. It was worse than ever. I had to have a friend download a browser and bring it on a flash drive.   It still took forever for the page to load.  And it still said that my LAN was unplugged, which it certainly was not!  Remember, my connection, router and modem had all been repeatedly tested by Cox (my service provider), and I myself could see there was nothing wrong with my internet connection. He showed me, using both his computer and mine, that INTERNALLY my computer wasn't connecting properly (he used a PING test, and I could see that about 20% of all data was being lost every time I tried to connect).

  So, I continued to try to work with my computer.  Whenever I tried to connect to the internet, it would do one of three things:  a)  wouldnt connect at all (often saying the connection timed out), b) would take at least 5 minutes to load a single page or c) (the rarest) would connect promptly to the internet.  Since Cox determined and SHOWED me it is DEFINITELY an internal problem with the computer, they could do nothing to help me.  I had to take it back to NTC. I thought it wouldnt be a problem, since a large sign proclaims they guarantee their work.  I talked to a guy named Richard, who then turned me over to Felix .  Felix turned on the computer, immediately got a connection, and VERY RUDELY dismissed me.  I tried to explain how I was shown the problem was definitely internal (what they were supposed to fix); but he remained oh-so-rude and dismissive.  He talked over me, and even raised his voice until he was nearly yelling at me.  He treated me like garbage.  I asked to speak with the owner, Phineas;  he wasnt in. So, I left a note explaining the problem. The owner has NOT gotten back to me, and I havent been able to reach him by phone.  As to when hes in-store is anybodys guess. 

  I start online college in 9 days, and desperately need a working computer.  These people took my money and completely blew me off.  I feel quite angry and violated.  I hate that this is happening:  I believe in giving local businesses my money, but I see I cannot do that here.

  Since I have sought and been repeatedly denied a hearing, let alone a resolution from NTC, I need my $50 back.  Im out of work, and that is a HUGE amount of money for me.  I am out $50 and have a totally trashed computer that NTC only made worse. I could bear with their error if they kept their promised guarantee and treated me with simple respect, but this is an out-and-out rip-off.  PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID THESE ARROGANT THIEVES AT ALL COST!
