My sister died on May 7, 2014. We hired Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home to handle the arrangements. The manager, Adam Walker, assured us he could make my sister look presentable for the wake. He made me stand outside in the cold for 10 or 15 minutes until he opened the door so that I could deliver photographs of her that would displayed on a monitor during the wake. When he opened the casket I ran from the room in horror. My sister looked absolutely awful. We had a closed casket wake. They wanted cash on the barrel head. No deals. It cost in excess of ,000 with no limousines except for the deceased. And now -- two months later -- the grass has grown over her gravesite and there's no way of telling where she is. The local manager, Adam Walker, told me he put a temporary marker on her grave three weeks ago. Obviously, he was lying. They don't stand up and walk away. I would never use this company again and would urge anyone to avoid it. It's owned by Service Corporation International, a Texas based company that is the largest in the funeral industry in the U.S. It has a terrible credit rating on Wall Street, treats its employees like dirt and is clearly only interested in one thing: separating the bereaved from as much of their money as possible while providing the worst service imaginable.
