Nicon Trust Inc. False Winnings Check Claim Scam East Ham London
Recently received a letter from the supposed company "Nicon Trust Inc." but due to the large amount of differing names on Ripoff Report for the same scam, I am pretty sure this is a false company name. In the letter, they claimed I had won $150.000.00 and that I needed to deposit the check they sent for $4,989.95 to my account and send $2,987.00 to the "tax agent" assigned to me.
After going online to research this company, I couldn't find any trace of their existance, so I decided to look up any similar scams and found Ripoff Report which showed this same scam done time and time again, and the ultimate result: The check will initially clear, but then, when your check is cashed by the other party, their check will bounce, and you are left holding the tab for a very expensive scam.
Information to look for to identify this scam:
1) Unknown company name with no reference to them online or otherwise
2) A "Claim" number, or some sort of "tracking information".
3) A check mailed to you requiring that you deposit the check, then mail a seperate check to a person THEY pick.
4) Computerized signature from a random person claiming they are the (Promotion Manager)
Again, do NOT claim the check if you have received this scam letter. If you have any doubts about the validity of a letter or check sent to your house, speak with your bank representative.
