I signed up for the budget billing plan with Nicor Gas when I moved in my current residence 2 years ago. I was set up to make a monthly payments of $41.00 on the plan. I have never been late on my payments and continued to pay $41.00 these last two years.

I am moved to a new residence in July 2008, so I contacted Nicor Gas of to stop gas service at my old address and to set up new gas service at my new address. I was informed that my old address account will close out and get transfered to my new address account.

On 7-7-08, I received an automated phone call message from Nicor Gas stating that I owe $490.95 and to make my payment now or I can make it 3 days from now. I was shocked to find out that I owe all this money. I called Nicor Gas to question this amount. The represenative said that owed this money and that the budget plan showed that I was using more gas than I was paying for. So I asked why didn't my budget payment increase if I was using more gas than I was paying for? The representative didn't have an answer for me.

Nicor Gas is at fault for not maintaining this account correctly and not doing a accurate reading on the gas, thus not increasing my payment to accommodate the gas I was using.

I complained to the Better Business Bureau, Citizens Utility Board, llinois Commerce Commission and Attorney General only to get nowhere. If anyone has any suggestions on what to do, they will be gladly appreciated.
