nochex.com is a big RIP OFF company they had it planed from the start. They looked at my company web site and approved it and then one week later when there's a large amount of money in the account they said this;

It is with regret that I write to inform you of the closure of your Nochex Merchant Account.

There appear to be several issues with your account and business, and the risks associated are not ones that we wish to bear when processing your online payments. The character of the payments received into your account are of a very high risk nature and we do not wish to continue accepting these payments through our gateway on your behalf. Our thoughts are to refund the nine live payments from your account. It may be that you need to speak with these buyers to agree an alternate method for them to pay for their service. This action will take place at around 16:00 today unless we receive a reasonable objection from you.

It would also seem that your business has changed entity from its current Sole Trader status to an entirely new Limited Company as well as the address, details of which differ from those provided at the initial assessment of your account.

Also, your account has only been approved to accept payments from the UK, however I can see that there have been a large spell of attempts to pay your business from outside of the UK. It would also seem that you have now begun accepting payments for website design services, a service that was not agreed to at the inception of your account.

- - - - -

They accept my company and then accepted my payments, They said on the phone that they would let me have customers from the USA and around europe pay me. They try and get you to sign up and when you have a lot of money in the account they will = BLOCK YOUR ACCOUNT = so you cant contact your customers.

The agreement was for websites and dropship accounts and that's what I have been receiving payments for.

Take a look at this email ; THE OTHER DAY THEY WANTED A PARTNERSHIP WITH US:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I work for Nochex, one of the leading online payment processors in the UK and I came across your website recently which sparked an idea.

I wondered how many of your signups were based in the UK and if there was any potential for a partnership between ourselves and Select Wholesale? We work with a number of drop shipping websites in the UK and I wondered if you currently recommend any payment processors to your sign ups?

We would be interested to see if there was some scope for a partnership, and if so, then we would be able to offer a profit share with you based on the processing of the merchants you refer. As a UK only company, we would need merchants to be based in the UK, although they could sell to overseas does this fit in with your user demographics?

If you think it might be of interest, please let me know, and equally if you have any questions, I would be happy to talk through them with you.

I look forward to hearing from you,

www.nochex.com

it seems like nochex is just the same as paypal,.. taking the money and just sending auto reponses emails,. or emails which dont answer the question you asked!!!, freakin annoying,.

and i have been rooting for nochex over paypal for along time,. !!!

A lot of people in the Green Room (nochex forum) have had the same thing done to them, and not given a CLEAR CUT answer to why their account has been made inactive (closed!)

I too couldnt login to my account, so I went through the re-activation procedure of downloading a form, filling it in and sending back with photocopies of utility bills etc. Never got any response to tell me that my account had been activated, but I logged on today to discover they had taken out 35 in charges as I havent used my account. I filled out a contact form via their site threatening legal action if I dont get a refund or reduction in the fees which I think are excessive. I was never made aware of the charge for not using it, and if another post here is correct, when I joined it would have been 2 per quarter in charges not 5. Would be great if there is something that can be done about this, so if anybody has any further ideas or experiences I would be grateful to hear from them.

Having lost 26 myself to the Nochex-we-take-your-money-without-telling-you-rip-off-merchants I've today reported Nochex to the BBC's watchdog programme and also the FSA who licence these robbers.

I'm also enquiring as to whether the police could be called in as their dormancy rule was introduced without telling anybody, they don't tell you when they are taking 5 each time, they don't tell you how long it is before an account is dormant, They don't even tell you when they have completely bled you dry.

I hope people with hundreds or thousands of pounds in Nochex wake up to this amazing theft of money before it's too late.

I can't believe in these days of tight financial regulation they have got away with stealing our cash. They must have creamed off tens of thousands - I have a feeling the people here are the tip of the iceberg.

Watch this space.....(and hopefully Watchdog)..... it's time for somebody to fight back against Nochex.

I have just found out that i have lost 55 to nochex for dormant account charges..
when i complained they sent me the below email

Thanks for your message.

When accounts become dormant they incur a charge of 5 per quarter as per the terms and conditions applicable to your account

(At least people saw d**k Turpin coming...and he was hanged for his crimes)

Nochex don't make things easy for you. I did a couple of sales on my website about 2 years ago with them for about 155.00. Never had anyone else use them, received the account closed email from them last year, but didn't clock the dormant account charge.

I was going to reactivate the account and get my money out but decided that to do the 2 page bending over backwards sending utility bills and ID was over the top.

You have to send originals so, you need recorded delivery and in this day and age of ID theft and fraud I would rather lose 155.00 than my ID, especially when we are being ripped off by the Government, it is a small price to pay.

The only recourse I have is maybe to stuff them through the small claims court, although Nochex are almost invisible as the offices aren't common knowledge, although I now have the address. Alternatively I can stick a nice little piece about them on my websites and advise people not to use them. There again Martin (MSE) is doing a much better job.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I cant even log in.

I tried to log in and got the inactive rubbish and they asked me to open a ticket confirming my details. I did and 8 days later I am still waiting for a reply to my ticket. When I tried the lost password it says my email is not in there system but if i try to make a new account with the same email it says it is in use.

Even there forums are closed now and no one can register. Pile of rubbish this company is

Yes I have just found that I am in the same position and Nochex have stolen my money too and are busy quoting their current terms and conditions at me, which were not the original T&C's that were in place when I opened the account i.e. '3.11 Nochex reserves the right at their absolute discretion to apply an administration charge of no more than 5.00 per quarter on dormant accounts' - February 2006.

Makes you wonder how much money they have made in total from all of us unfortunate soles Ripoffreport Report Image - they must be fairly lucarative!

I agree too that is totally unfair to consider your account as dormant just because no one on eBay wants to pay you via Nochex.

Wonder if eBay are aware of this scam regarding Nochex and they could inform others to beware.

I will be looking into this more to see if anything further can be done to get my money back, and also to let others know in the hope they dont befall to this same terrible situation.

If anyone has had a positive outcome to the same problem, it would be great if you could let me know.

Oh well, more work needed to get what I should be rightfully entitled to and not to find myself 'a victim of a crime'! There just has to be some ruling/law to prevent this from happening to me and many others from what I see from just this forum alone.

Take care

Having read the comments posted here regarding Nochex, we wish to put forward our comments. While we cannot comment on individual accounts, we can explain our policies overall.

Account Closures

While 99.9% of the merchants who use Nochex to accept payments are reliable and honest, in a very small number of cases we may find merchants who are working outside of our Acceptable Use Policy or who we may believe are acting outside the law. We check all our accounts rigorously and on a regular basis to ensure that this does not happen, however if we do find something that is of concern we will be forced to take immediate action.

As with all payment processors and financial services companies, we comply with UK law and work within the regulations laid out by our governing bodies.  This may mean that in some instances an account will be shut down, sometimes without warning.

All our merchants are checked on application and we agree to process payments for them based on what we see and understand their business to be doing, if however a merchant makes significant changes to their service or product range after being approved by Nochex, which results in the merchant working either outside of our AUP, or outside of UK law, then we have no choice but to terminate the contract we have with that merchant.  In order to comply with UK legislation, we are sometimes unable to give warning or reasons for our decision to terminate the contract.

Account Balances

If an instance arises where we are forced to terminate the contract we have with a merchant, in some cases the balance of their account may not be returned immediately. Not all account closures result in the funds being held by Nochex however.  We may have to retain funds from closed accounts for a period of time (usually 180 days from the last transaction) and this follows standard industry practise, and again is set out in the standard merchant terms. Money is held back in these instances to cover commercial risks, for example; to cover any refunds and chargebacks that may occur during that period.

Charges

Nochex reserves the right to charge an administration fee of 5.00 per quarter for any account left inactive for a period of 12 months or more. This charge is detailed in the standard Terms and Conditions (Section 3.11) which an account holder agrees to when setting up an account with Nochex.

Many thanks
