Nonnie's Traditional Southern is a rip in my opinion. Oprah Winfrey made their cakes one of her favorite things. You receive a pound cake, hat box, and fresh flowers. They want several hundred of dollars.

I ordered a cake because I couldn't afford the hat box and flowers. The cake was $80. It was all of 6 inches. Not worth it!!!

Go to your local bakery. Bake a pound cake yourself. But don't order from Nonnie's Traditional Southern unless you have lots of money to burn.

To add insult on top of injury, I had to wait 7 months just to pay $80 for a 6 inch cake.

I'm sure if Oprah knew of this scam, she would not endorse this.

SHE HAS LOOKS, TALENT, STYLE AND A LOT OF MONEY. MUCH MORE MONEY THAN I WILL EVER SEE IN A LIFETIME... ENOUGH MONEY TO HELP GET BARACK OBAMA ELECTED TO THE US PRESIDENCY AND ENOUGH MONEY TO OPEN A PRIVATE GIRLS SCHOOL IN AFRICA WHICH IS ALREADY BEEN INVOLVED IN SOME VERY SERIOUS CHARGES ( OPRAH'S PET HOUSE FOLKS, I GUESS). IT SEEMS INSTEAD OF APPRECIATING THE ADVANTAGES THEY HAVE BEEN GIVEN, THE YOUNG AFRICAN LADIES WANT MORE AND MORE AND MORE AND OPRAH NEEDS TO GIVE UP THIS VENTURE AND HELP OUT KIDS HERE WHO COULD MAKE A LOT BETTER USE OF THE ACADEMIC ADVANTAGES SHE OFFERED. I AM JUST A STUDENT TRYING TO IMPROVE MY LIFE BY LEARNING A TRADE WHICH I HOPE WILL LIFT ME OUT OF THE POVERTY OF MINIMUM WAGE I HAVE ENDURED MOST OF MY LIFE BY TAKING AND WORKING WHATEVER JOB CAME MY WAY --DEAD END, MINIMUM WAGE, DISPOSABLE JOBS JUST TO KEEP A ROOF OVER MY HEAD AND FOOD AND BARELY COVERED THE BASICS EVEN THOUGH I SOMETIMES PUT IN A 60 HOUR WEEK OR MORE! BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ME AND HER. SHE IS AMAZING AND I DO NOT BEGRUDGE HER A MOMENT OF HER HARD-EARNED SUCCESS AND LUCKY BREAKS. I DO RESENT HER ENDORSING ALL OF THESE OVERPRICE THINGS AS HER FAVORITE THINGS WHEN IT TAKES A HALF A WEEK 'S PAY TO AFFORD THAT POUND CAKE FOR ME. SHE HAS LOST TOUCH WITH US ORDINARY PEOPLE.SHE HAD NO IDEA WHAT PEOPLE LIKE ME HAVE TO DO FOR OR A LIVING OR HOW I HAVE TO LIVE. SHE REALLY DOESN'T WANT TO NOR SHOULD SHE HAVE TO. BUT PEOPLE HAVE TO REALIZE IS WHAT IS GOOD FOR OPRAH, WHAT IS ONLY CHUMP CHANGE FOR HER CAN FEED AN ENTIRE FAMILY FOR THREE WEEKS. I GUESS IF OPRAH SAID THAT ( EXPLETIVE DELETED) WAS GOOD TO EAT, ALL OF HER RABID FOLLOWERS WOULD WANT TO EAT SOME OF THAT TOO WITHOUT STOPPING TO THINK ABOUT IT OR NOT. BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHAT OPRAH CAN HAVE FOR HER FAVORITE THINGS AND WHAT I HAVE. I AM JUST GRATEFUL FOR A PLACE TO SLEEP AT NIGHT AND FOOD TO EAT. I DON'T THINK AN $80 POUND CAKE WILL BE IN MY FAVORITE THINGS FOR QUITE A WHILE.

First of all, for the person who posted the report, about the cake rip off. Why in the world, would you pay $ 80 dollars, for a cake. When you can easily go inside a well known bakery around in your area , and get same thing catered or made for half, or a fraction of the cost, unless it's a special occasion, such as a wedding or a shower, or whatever. Secondly, If you felt, that they were trying to scam you in any way. You should've asked for your money back, right away. Tooken them to court, or as the saying goes" Don't believe everything that you see, on television"!. Just because Oprah, spends her money on whatever she wants to buy. That's her money, and plus, she has billions of dollars to burn. Another example is that Rio hair product, that the they said was supposed to loosen the curls out of the people's hair, and when they brought the product, it took some of their hair out, caused them to have green scalps, and bald spots.

She doesn't have the corner market on truth! Come on, she compares raising children to owning a dog! How reliable can the woman be? Make up your own mind. $80 is too much for a cake, so don't buy it next time! Just because Oprah can afford it, doesn't mean the rest of us can.

I, too, saw this on Oprah's show. I went to the web site, saw the size, price, and wait time and said "forget it. " They were certainly up front about what you would get for the price. I do think that the prices went way up due to demand after being on the Oprah show. Just because it is $80 now doesn't mean it was $80 when she discovered and recommended it. The market decides the price and if enough fools are willing to pay $80 for a 6" cake, more power to them.

1. This is not a scam. You made a mistake and bought a tiny, tiny cake for a lot more than it was worth. Unless they lied about the size, there is no scam. 2. Why wouldn't Oprah spend $80 on a 6 inch cake. She's a billionaire isn't she? Anyway sorry you were mistaken about what you got for how much, you should research a little more next time.

If you pay $80 for any kind of cake, you get what you deserve. If you listen to anything Oprah says, or any celebrity says, as THE TRUTH, again, you get what you deserve. Are you sheep? Can't you make up your own mind? Must we Americans be so stupid as to have to have other people make up our minds for us? If your next door neighbor tried to sell you a cake for $80, would you buy it?

I don't think that the fact that you overpaid and waited forever for it entails a scam.

They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report: Their email: [email protected] Their name: Julie Traenkenschuh Their relationship to the company: Devotee Rebuttal: Okay..so you spent $80 on a 6 inch cake. I think that's hillarious. I don't think that the fact that you overpaid and waited forever for it entails a scam. It's apparent to me that the rich people of the world must be eating tons of tiny, very expensive pound cakes! The wait must be due to high demand! If I were Oprah and had a gazillion dollars to burn, it might well be my favorite cake too. As far as Oprah being "a bag of hot air"..well now, let's look at your impact on the world. Who are you again? That's what I thought. It's so easy to criticize people who are in the public eye isn't it? I think Oprah is a good and decent person who has made a positive impact on the world. She has contributed countless dollars and hours of her time to countless organizations..and that's just the stuff we know about. I think that as far as the weight thing goes--she's just trying to make it clear that she feels so much better because she's living a healthier lifestyle ..she's simply saying that we all will too. I've yet to hear her preach. Oprah-you go girl!

They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report:

Their name: Mrs. A

Their relationship to the company: Consumer Suggestion

Rebuttal:
Why do you assume Oprah doesn't know they charge $80 for a six-inch cake? The question is, does it matter to her, when she is the richest woman in America?

I think Oprah is a bag of hot air: When she is fat, she says it's okay to be who you are. After her personal chef locks
her cupboards and she loses some (not nearly enough!) weight, then nobody should rest until they do what she does, lose weight.

I figure it this way: Every obese woman who has a personal chef, a home gym, and a zillion dollars of disposable income should be considered slovenly if she doesn't lose weight, but a working woman raising children (who barely has enough time to sleep as it is) gets a pass.

Oprah is manufactured by the media; she is about as genuine as diamonique jewels on Home Shopping Club.
