Northern Leasing Systems ripoff harrassment of wife unauthorized credit check attempt to collect more than was owed New York New York
Did not know about or have ever discussed nor was i ever made aware of a so called uncancellable contract.
i attempted to return the device after the establishment was damaged by fire and was forced to go out of business. at that point i was told that i could not return the device and would have to pay the intire contract amount.
in sept 2003 they threatened legal action if the full amount was not paid in full
on sept 9 2003 they and i entered an agreement whereby they would settle for 1000.00 payable with 150.00 down and 17 monthly installments of 50.00 each month.
i upheld the agreement by doing exactly as i agreed to do. my balance now is 600.00.
today 2/24/04 at 12pm my wife received a call while i was not home explaining to her that we still owed 2200.00 and that they could save us a lot of money if we would pay off our account in the amount of 1300.00 immediately and pressed my wife for a credit card and authorization for that amount.
upon returning home, my wife was crying and very upset because of what she called "rude, threatening, demanding phone call from "jackie" at northern leasing.
I immediatly called and spoke to jackie and explained our previous agreement upon which she agreed to settle the account today for 450.00.
she faxed me the settlement figure and i called her back to pay her the figure in the letter of 450.00.
she refused to accept and said she had acted hastedly and that i would have to continue the 50.00 per month arrangement we previously agreed to.
I explained that i was in receipt of her letter and offer and that i did not understand why all of this was taking place.
frustrated, i asked to speak to someone of authority over her, of which i was told the buck stops here and hung up on me.
another attemt thru customer service asking for a manager resulted in the same outcome.
I cannot say enough bad things about the methods and the integrity of these people. they have harrassed, used questionable tactics as well as invasion of privacy by checking my assets when there was no reason to do so and certainly without any permission, disclosureor purpose
