Northern Rock Promotions Threw the hook but this fish didn't bite! Edmonton Canada
This is another sweepstakes scam out of Canada. It says I've won $125,000. Enclosed is a check for $4,450.00 (written on Tyco Electronics Corp.) I am to deposit the check and send back a tax amount of $2950.00 then the balance of the award will be sent to me.
I have recieved similiar letters like this in the past. The first one I took to the bank manager to confirm that it was a scam, which he assured me it was. I then took it to the police, who didn't seem to really care.
Fortunately I did not "bite", so I did not lose any money but what about the people who do believe they have won something and then get taken? This should be a crime.
