I give Northwest Parkway Authority the lowest rating possible, and promise to be their worst advertising ever. They failed to send me an original invoice for my use of the parkway. Instead, NPA's first invoice included a penalty for "late payment". The penalties appear to be automatic with use of the parkway, and the penalties continue to accumulate while you are contesting the original penalty. Here's the scam they're running:
Eventually you pay the current amount due plus penalties, even though it's many times the original fee, or it goes to a collection agency, and there goes your credit rating. They know that it's not worth your time to take it to Small Claims Court. Even after you have paid the amount due, they continue to harass you.
They should be thoroughly investigated by the State of Colorado, and seriously fined. And the fine should include no notice, an outrageous due date, rediculous interest rates, and unjustified late fees

The above rebuttal came straight from the Northwest Parkway Authority, and is similar to other rebuttals by them. The nature of their rebuttal is out of the same playbook that they use for billing - Obfuscate, and make it appear as if you are at fault; not them.
The fact that is important here is that they take a picture of your license plate, and send you a bill. You do not pay at the time that you use their road, unless you purchase a pass. Even that has proven to be a nightmare for friends who made the mistake of getting a pass. NPA abused that as well.

Wouldn't it be much better to just pay the toll when you are supposed to because that's how using a toll road works???
