NSS Magazines Rip-off ..been bitten by the scam
When I queried Google about NSS Magazines, having found a whopping $62 charge on my bill in the name of that company, I discovered at least thirty-three others have been bitten by the scam and filed reports. I don't know how it happened to them, but here's my story:
I filled in a survey, after accessing a website I hope I remember the name of, because I cannot remember right now. The lure was that, if I would complete the survey, I would get free gifts. I could order three gifts (like flashlight keyrings, etc.), three types of software, and get two-months-free of three magazines. I do not remember seeing the name "NSS" along with the magazines or any other of the gifts.
Each of the gifts arrived, and the magazines came in. Not until this month's credit card bill (Oct-Nov 2001) did I find a charge of $62 made against my account. I've written to the credit card company, but doubt there's much they can do. I did want to let them know the name of this company, so they can flag any charges made in their name for other clients, however.
And so, as my dear, departed father would tell me ... nothing is free, daughter. Hope this helps someone else and keeps them from making the same mistake.
