I agree with most of what you said about NSS. I felt ripped off when I found out that the free magazines were charged at the subscription rate. I also was rather put off by the computerized menu and inability to speak to a human. However, I also found that their menu system allowed me to cancel those magazines and to receive a refund. It's not easy to find, and not easy to navigate, as the computerized menu offers more than one extension subscription option if you choose to not cancel immediately. I refused that offer. Within several days, the credit was issued by NSS. This may have been what they were doing towards the end of September, but this is what they are doing now as of the end of December.
