OCWEN LOAN SERVICING, NEW CENTURY MORTGAGE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FAILED TO RECORD MORTGAGE, LOST PROPERTY RIPOFF ORLANDO Florida
After refinancing my mortgage in 2002, New Century immediately sold it to Ocwen (notified me at closing with documents dated the day before!). Ocwen failed to record the mortgage. At the same time I was assured that property taxes were to be held in escrow and paid by Ocwen (should have read the fine print rather than listen to the mortgage broker). Long story short, the property was sold at a tax deed sale. New Century was notified of the upcoming sale but did nothing. Ocwen was never notified because they were not recorded with the county.
If that were not bad enough, Ocwen has taken 60 days (and 8 phone calls from me) in order to send documentation to the county that they hold the mortgage. Until they do this, and are paid off, I am unable to collect the remainder of the funds for the sale. At the same time, they want me to continue paying the mortgage (mostly interest) despite having clear instructions how to collect a complete payoff. They assure me they will report any late payment to the big three credit bureaus.
Even with all of the above, the single most infuriating aspect of Ocwen is their HORRIBLE customer service. Answered in India, the call center staff is CLUELESS. I am convinced they simply hang up if they do not know the answer to a question. After explaining my situation and requesting they send documentation to Florida showing they hold the mortgage and the sale proceeds can be released, I was asked if I would like to REFINANCE!
So...you can call their "Ombudsman" if you are having a dispute....guess what...he is in India too!
