My hell story reads like this, My house was paid for when I took out a home improvement loan. I inherited it from my late Grandmother. Somehow it turned into a mortgage. Grant it, I was young at the time (21) and didn't quite know what was happening.

Well I couldn't afford to pay a mortgage at the time and my home was almost foreclosed. Ocwen buys my home from Washington Mutual to prevent me from filing bankruptcy while adding an additional $4000 to the mortgagte. Then they put me in forbearance. Desperate to save my house, I agreed to the forbearance for one year at $850/month from $500/month. I asked why did my mortgage jump up and they said it was procedure. Again, being young and desperate to save my house, I agreed.

I also owed property taxes. I had arranged for a 3rd party to pay my taxes and I was put on a payment plan to pay the tax company back. I was almost finished paying back the tax company when all of a sudden, Ocwen steps in and pays them in full and charges me an additional $2000! Ironically, this happened in the last month of my forbearance. I was shocked they did that without my consent.

Now my mortgage is $822 per month when it was supposed to have gone back down to $500 after the forbearance. How could this happen? Customer service is not cooperative at all. I have been ripped off because they know how much this house means to me. I have a negative rating on my credit report because initially, I never could afford a mortgage this high in the first place. Ocwen is a ripoff and is doing illegal mortgage practices. Someone needs to stop them now!

As I was reading your initial report... you state that you inherited this home from grandma. You then give the impression that all of a sudden there was a mortgage on the house ( you state you were young and did not know ).. if there was a mortgage taken out on the house, you would have had to apply and sign the documents no? Then you state that one lender sold your loan to another servicing company to prevent you from filing bankruptcy ( no one lender can do that). Companies do not force anyone into forebearance by the way, it is an agareement with the homeowner and the lender to get the payments back to current. Forebearance only occurs when you haven't made your payments. Sadly, if you have been in this situation on two seperate occassions, in short order, you credit score probably will only get you a hard money loan. If I were you, I would look into doing something quickly.

After I successfully completed my one year forbearance, Ocwen puts my mortgage in forbearanace again, this time it was without my consent!!! How could they do this? I thought I would finally get relief from paying them a jacked up mortgage amount. Now I have to do it all over again. This has to be illegal.

I do not like the last rebuttle that states nothing was done wrong and there are 1300 other complaints who agree with the victim. I do not know the victim in any way but have had problems with ocwen. Ocwen is a very shady business, they work with a mortgage company i was screwed by called first nlc. first nlc sells all there loans to ocwen and ocwen turns a blind eye to all the lies and illegal paper work done to get the loan. and by the way if u just do a general search on ocwen tons and tons of settled lawsuits will show u ocwen is a horrible company to do business with.

Nothing illegal here.

Roferrel, It seems there are many things you do not understand here. I'll try to clear things up. First, ANY loan you take against your home as collateral is a MORTGAGE. A home improvement loan is a mortgage. Second, a lender has the legal right to protect THEIR collateral. This means they have the right to make sure their collateral is insured, and free of tax liens. Nothing illegal here. It is your responsibility to make sure your taxes are paid and your home is insured. My question is, WHY would you not have homeowners insurance? That is plain crazy. FYI..No lender can do anything to stop you from filing bankruptcy. Only the court can either allow or disallow your filing. The bottom line is you took a loan that you could not afford to pay. You admitted that. Why would you take out a loan that you know you cannot afford to pay back? And, $500/month is not that much money for a place to live. Even $800 for a house is good. Do you expect to live for free? A 1 bedroom apartment where I live is $800.
