I too have been ripped off by office depot. I purchased a Toshiba T400 mp3 player. The salesperson just raved about how important it was to keep my player in working condition and buying a performance protection plan would be the best way.

For the price of the player I paid $14.99 and it was supposed to cover anything that happens to the player--then the sales person said "it doesn't matter what goes wrong with the player, if it stops working just call them and you will get a refund for the merchandise. You don't even have to send the merchandise back--they don't want your damaged stuff back--just let them know and they trust you and will send you your refund automatically. I tried this because the player I purchased was not turning off--just stayed on all the time.

By the time I talked to a real person, all they said was that the player was covered by the manufacturer warranty of one year and I would have to pursue the matter through them before I could actually file a claim under the ppp warranty plan. After spending coutless time on the phone, I gave up trying and am out my $14.99 and the price for the player which was $59.99. because Office Depot will not take the player back.

PPP Replacement Plan

Unfortunately it sounds like there was some miscommunication at the store about what you purchased. On devices under $500 (cameras, mp3 players, printers, etc.) there is a replacement plan instead of the usual repair plan. The employee was correct, the plan DOES cover pretty much anything that could happen to your mp3 player. However, it starts when the manufacturer's one-year warranty ends. We extend the coverage, since most people would probably like to have something last longer than a year. For the first year, you'll need to go through the manufacturer. After that, our plan kicks in and covers you through the one or two years you bought.
