My Wife and I hired Mr Albert Garza with Omega Plumbing in San Antonio, Texas to re-plumb a historic restoration pjoject an hour out of town. We contracted with him and foolisly paid the 20% up front to start the work. He came recommended so I didnt have a problem with it, as he presented himself a licensed master plumber in San Antonio.
The plumbing job went ok, other than delays, being late, and a pile of excuses...but no big deal. We had another contractor fall out on the entire rest of the project so Mr Garza suggested that we allow him to act as a General contractor, and bring in crews to help us finish.
That is where the nightmare started. His 20% turned to 30% and so on. Work got started and then stopped, then started...and so on. he continued wanting advances for work that hadnt been done. Finally, subcontractors started showing up, drinking beer on the job, and telling us we owed them money. he had not been paying subs and was floating other projects on my draw payments.
My wife keeps emaculate records and we finally stopped him, and he couldnt explain why, when, or where the project was or where my money had been spent. First he said he would make it right, pay us off by doing extra work, etc. Then he bailed out all together and started dodging phone calls and all contact, denying any wrong doing.
At the end of the day, over $30,000 had walked off and we were left with a mess.
I want to let potential customers in the San Antonio area know that the person they are dealing with is a fast talking, bumbling little man with no backbone, and no regard for other people's money or loyalty. After he steals your money, he will tell you that he is praying for you. Pretty sure there is some mental instability there.
Omega Plumbing is the typical one man show cutting every corner possible to cover up an unrealistic bid while still trying boost his profit margin instead of coming clean and saying "I messed up, but I want to make it right"
We do not have the time to take him to court or get his license revoked, as we are too busy making more than we lost per day in oil and gas interests..better yet, we used it as a tax write off after we sold the project incomplete at a whopping $210,000 net profit. My CPA said "thanks Albert", you helped offset the short term capital gains on this great investment property"
Please let me know if you are interested in helping me make more money anytime soon....chump.
