I am writing about oncor utility provider with a mean scheme they got going. I came home May 20th 2013 entered into my home and found my clock on my oven blinking indicating the power had been disconnected. I called my neighbor down the street and asked her "The power went off again?" She replied, "No, but I saw the oncor truck in front of your house it had to be between 300pm and 330 pm" I said,"Okay let me see what they did." I went into my backyard to discover oncor had changed the meter and installed a lock on it. I found that quite strange so I called oncor to investigate and the rep told me this fantastic lie,"We were not receiving a signal from your residence so we generated a work order on the 9th of May to change out your meter." Its a lie because on the 6th of May they read my meter remotely, if it was'nt sending a signal how could they generate the bill on the 8th of May a day before they said they could't read it. So the rep went on to explain that I had a tampering charge on my bill because the meter had been tampered with. At that time I informed the rep I was Going to sue oncor for this scheme they have going on because they had just arrested my neighbor for doing the same thing. They came out installed the smart meter one month and about a year later came out using the same lie saying they could not receive a signal from their meter. They charged my neighbor a substantial amount of money and she paid. They pursued criminal charges and had her arrested after she had paid the fine. Another neighbor was checking on his property he was'nt residing in at that time because he was staying with his elderly grandparents and was taking care of them. He only went to his home once or twice daily only to retreive mail or check his surroundings. One day he encounterd oncor on his property and asked him,"May I help you?" He said,"No" and informed him he had been tampering with his meter. My neighbor said,"No its not, your'e here because my bill is about 18.00 to 20.00 montly because I'm never here. The next month his bill was 200.00 dollars when he's never at home. Now back to my issue, I have schooling in electrical engineering, and hold a Journeymans Electrician license, I had the oppurtunity to work at Apple Computers in the 80's and Texas Instruments in the 90's so I know how to manage electricity. When oncor first started installing the smart meters I caught an oncor guy in my back yard. I said,"What are you doing?" He gave the same old song and dance,"I'm here cause we could not receive a signal from our meter." I told the tech in no uncertain terms he neede to remove himself from my property. He quickly exited. When he left I went to investigate what he had done, he had left the meter ring thats designed to secure the meter to the base loose. Upon further investigation, researching and utilizing my electrical experience I knew that the smart meter circumfrence is larger than the old analogue meter, so the meter ring for the old meter wont fit on the new meter so he left it hanging. They came back just like they did with the other individuals and accused me of tampering. Not only that I monitor my usage online, they have taken that from me so I can't monitor their fraud. My situation is somewhat similar to the gentleman fore mentioned, my parents moved out of the resident that I'm currently in residing in. It went from seven occupants to one so the bill dropped off dramatically. Oncor try to make it seem like I tampered with the meter so they can retrieved what they call in the corporate world as lost potential earnings. Upon occupying my parents old house I unplugged everything plugged in, removed incadescent lamps and replaced them with cfl's insulated doors, windows and garages. I only have 4 lamps plugged in, 3 clocks, washer, dryer and refrigerator. I wash only twice a month and at home probally 11 hours daily with six of those sleep. I have achieved very low electric bills and oncor can't stand this. I will be pressing charges and suggest other customers try starting a class-action lawsuit. I also encourage people to google and do research on the smart meter and a company named BC Hydro. Oncor has full control over the whole process pretending to do investigations. This is a money grab and nothing more. My bills are honestly low, they average 40.00 to 50.00 monthly, now with the so call charge I'll have to pay to keep my lights on which will make the low bills for the months January thru May average 150.00 montly. This is what they want more money.
