I have been trying to re-establish my credit and had 3 current credit accounts for 2 years, paid all 3 of my current credit accounts on time for those 2 years and all of a sudden Orchard Bank says that because of my limited credit history (hence my reason for obtaining their card in Dec. 06), my interest rate will go from 14.99% to 26.99% for no good reason. What is this crap?!! I have never been late and was told there was nothing I could do about it by their credit department. We'll see about that!

They also just this month raised my interest rate to 29%. When I called them they told me that they raised everyones interest rate. I have 2 cards with them and have had since 2004 never been late and now interest rate went from 20% to 29% on 1 card and 14% to 26% on the other card.

Interest Rate Being Hiked Too!

#4Consumer Comment

Sun, May 20, 2007

I have had a credit card fron Orchard Bank for 2 years now also. My credit report is better now than when I first got the card and I have no payment problems with them. Yesterday in the mail, I was notified that my interest rate is going from 22.9% to 29.9%! They claim it's due to info they received from my credit report. Let's face it, most of us that have their card have it because we have had credit problems and Orchard Bank knows this. So now they are going to say our credit report is giving them a reason to hike up our interest rate??? They didn't seem to care about my credit report when I agreed to take one of their cards. If anyone has any suggestions, please share the info. Their letter suggests calling their customer service with any questions and I know how that will go. A person that barely speaks English telling me they are sorry but there's nothing they can do for me.
