I was sent a check from this company for $4250.00. Of course, there was a disclaimer that this company was merely a dibursement company and has no further responsibility other than processing the winnings. The entire winnings is supposedly $180,000.
There are instructions to contact a James Peters for activation and further clarifications.....which means they want $ for processing....this is a scam..y.based on greed....so send them a "processing" fee thinking you're going to get a huge lump sum...and you get ripped off....don't fall for it!
I can see people getting excited because it looks legit.....the check looks very genuine. It even has the security features on it, like watermark and heat sensitivity...but there are red flags here! ..PLEASE use the good sense your momma gave you....."if something sounds to good to be true.....it is"....red flags.......the letter is from Canada. The check is from Orient FIC Financial INc. in Florida, the check has an address from Connecticut & Pennsylvania.
These companies are on the Better Business Bureau website, but with different addresses and no report available. Also, there is no return address on the envelope. Most accredited places place some form of identification on th outside of correspondence....think about it...if you were to have won a sweepstakes it would come certified mail.
It never ceases to amaze me the lenghts that crooks go to....I get dozens of phone calls a days & hundreds of emails from crooks....I've been an active Ebayer for 6+ years and do alot of online transactions....that one place they find me....I also have a ton of credit card debt..which is public information that anyone can get...people please keep your guard up........but I have to tell you.....i was tempted to go to Wal-Mart & try & cash this check....I would be tickled if they ate it Hmmmmm...:)
