Through December 2000, PacifiCare Health Insurance was paying for my prescription for a drug to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Then they announced that as of January 1, 2001, they are no longer going to pay for it. They agree I need the drug...they simply no longer pay for that one. Of course, my premium is even higher in 2001 than it was when they were paying for the drug. This is not the only drug PacifiCare has dropped from its formulary. They stop paying for drugs at will leaving patients no choice but to accept cheaper, less effective drugs.

First of all I am sorry you have this health issue. However the insurance companies are not solely to blame. The cost of medications have sky rocketed. Drug manufacturers are making millions upon millions on drugs all across the USA. The Federal Government does not help the situation eighther. They are considering banning drugs from Canada. There is some sound reasoning to this issue. Quality control is one of them. Try using generics when possible by FDA standards the generic must contain the inert ingredient (active ingrediant) that make the drug work must be of the same. Try going to www.rxaminer.com a theraputic comparison web site. However never change your medication without your physicians consent. Also try to contact the drug CO and ask about the patient asisstance program. Also ask your local Pharmacy to help with discounts. Good luck and may GOD heal you...
