Palm Beach Tan Salons are horrendous rip off agents.  The only way you can sign up is to give your credit card, and then when you stop your membership they continue to charge your account.

I cancelled my membership in May of 2009 and finally in April 2010 got them to stop charging my credit card.  It was only $27 a month but when you multiply that over 11 months it was money that I could have spent on other expenses.

In August I went into the store, made the employee sign a copy of my letter cancelling the account again and completed their cancellation form again.  Yet it was 8 months later before I got them to stop charging my card.

I am going to bring this up with the Better Business Burea and my State Attorney General.

Hope that this stops someone from going to their location - they practice illegal, immoral and dishonest business!

Just off the phne with my 25 yr old daughter in Dallas. Palm Beach Tanning are not rip-off artists, they are SCAM artists!  they know what they are doing and it is intentional! Therefore they are scam artists in my opinion. Same problem, daughter cancelled account a year ago. She just decided to go tanning today at Palm Beach in Dallas. They informed her she owed over $45.00 becasue when she cancelled her account they (not her) put her on a sleeper account at $5.00 a month. Without her permission. The 2 ladies behind the counter embarrassed her, told her she can't use the facility until she paid the unpaid balance, told her if she didn't pay they would send her account to a collection agency. She was so embarrassed and felt she had to pay, that she did with her credit card and then left becasue she was so embarrassed my these fine employees....without the tan. AND ALL this with customers present. ENOUGH with large corporations ripping off young people. They think they can get away with it because young people don't know better. WELL SCREW THEM! I AM PISSED!. I am asking them for an apology and her money back.....She has already called credit card company to cancel payment because it was coerced. If the apology does not come, I will go viral. Tweets will occur every hour on the hour. Blogs will be written. Facebook comment will be posted. Every person on the web will know what a bunch of scam artists this company is...in my opinion (for their attorneys). Everyone ripped off and scammed by these people needs to go viral...maybe they will get it, you don't rip off and scam your customers!  Stay tuned.  BTW, the BB service is a joke...it doesn't work and is useless.  GO VIRAL!!!!

Diane, if you see this response, check out my rebuttal to Erica from Corona California, report number 554636. I think this is just the tip of the iceburg. I am inclined to file a class action lawsuit and I will see if PBT identifies you as a victim of their unfair and deceptive business practices when we get into discovery. So far, I am only out for two monthsmembership dues and I have written to PBT asking for a refund. We'll see what appears on my May AMEX bill.
