Summary: Pamela McLeod from Remax Calgary sold us a used commercial espresso machine (from a previous business of hers) with a promise that it was in good working order.    It was not and then despite her promise to refund our $1,500 with written proof of the issue form a reputable local dealer did not.

The details: This is our first time filing a rip off report.  Normally, we take a loss quietly when small things go wrong as they occasionally do when you buy used items, but in this case the individual in question, Pamela McLeod, will likely continue to defraud other members of our community as she sells off used equipment from her former business. The issue was identified within 2 hours of our purchase (based on a call with the manufacturer of the machine).    Pamela began refusing calls/emails from my husband - she claimed she was unable due to medical issues; however her office indicated she was working full time.  After almost 3 weeks of waiting my husband dropped the machine off under the porch at her home since she was refusing to talk with us.  We asked her to have the machine fixed or to refund the money as per our verbal agreement.  She then insisted that she wanted official, written documentation by an independent party of the issue we originally brought to her attention (she was now blaming us for the machine being broken since it was left out in the cold).  So, in our next phone conversation I said let me play this outif we can prove from a reputable vendor that what we said was wrong with the machine from Day 1 really is
true then you will refund our money.  Pamela said yes.   So we spent 2 hours
transporting the machine to / from the vendor and another $50 for them to assess
the machineonly to have our initial assessment of the issue confirmed.THREE weeks after having received the requested documentation Pamela said that she would only consider offsetting several
hundred dollars of the $1,000 - $1,500 repair needed to get the machine in working order.  I reminded her that was not our agreement, and she claimed that had only committed to consider what to do next after she had the correct documentation in hand (and verbally corroborated by the vendor which it was).  Lets be honest I dont know anyone that would run around town and then lay out even more money on the promise that the other party would only consider what they would do after all that had been completed. We have explained to Pamela that we would post a rip-off report, but that we would prefer to resolve this much more quietly and simply by her paying us the $1,500 she owes us as per her promises.  At this point she is refusing to take any calls or emails (and I have been very patient and kind in all of the messages I have left).

My personal experience is that Pamela McLeod from Remax is a woman whose handshakes and promises are worthless.  I would not recommend anyone purchase anything off her from Kijiji and you may want to seriously consider what kind of business you wish to engage in with someone whose promises cannot be trusted.

Sincerely,
Marnie
