Panasonic Consumer Electronics ripoff defective fraudulent Secaucus New Jersey
I purchased the Panasonic SH-FX50T Digital Transmitter & Receiver in August 2005 to go with the Pansonic DVD Home Theater Sound System I'd already purchased. From the get go, the signal between the transmitter & receiver was intermittent rather than steady even though they were well within the maximum range of each other. I returned to the retailer the next day and exchanged the unit for another of the same model. This time, it seemed to work fine. Four months later, the sound from the rear speakers became barely audible regardless of the volume level. The speaker weren't blown because I ended up running wires to the home theater unit, and the speakers work fine.
I tried calling Panasonic. After calling several times and being on hold for about 45 minutes altogether, while never actually having a chance to explain my dilemma, I tried e-mailing them. I didn't hear back till a week later. They referred me to a local service center. Fine. I took it in and they said they couldn't replace it but, because it was past the 90 day labor warranty, the could fix it for $100 (I only paid $180 for it) or they could give me a reconditioned one. I wasn't about to put more money out for this thing, so I took the reconditioned one.
I get this one home, and it too has a bad signal, cutting out intermittently again. At this point, I just wanted my money back. I don't have time for this. I went through the same rigamarole trying to contact Panasonic again telling them I wanted a refund. And I received the same response--we're very sorry, but take it to a service center. I wrote a letter to the company. They responded by referring me to a local service center. I feel like I've been completely had. This company has no integrity and can't even back up its workmanship or lack of it. Needless to say, I'll never buy another Panasonic product again.
