I purchased "PNY 256MB-PC100 SDRAM" from Staples on 11/29/03. I mailed in the $20 rebate offer (#03-67156) on 12/17/03.
I called the number on the rebate offer 03/30/04 to find out the status of my rebate and was told to resubmit the offer by fax. I faxed my resubmission on 03/30/04. I called back on 04/07/04 and was told my rebate was in the system and to allow 4-6 weeks for processing.
I called back on 07/19/04 and was told (by Rita) my rebate was not in the system and to resubmit again by fax. I faxed my resubmission again on 07/19/04.
I called back 09/22/04 and was told (by Felix) that the rebate offer had been closed and there was nothing he could do, so I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor (Elsa) also said there was nothing she could do.
I e-mailed the above information from the "Staples Rebate Center - Contact Us" web page on 09/22/04. I received within an hour the following response:
Dear John James: Rebate ID: 63864544
Thank you for contacting us regarding this issue. Because your issue requires further research, your email has been forwarded to a special team. We are working hard to research your issue and will respond to you as quickly as possible.
We appreciate your participation in this promotion. If there is
anything else we can do to assist you, please contact us at
[email protected]. We are always happy to help.

After not receiving any follow-up response, I replied on 11/02/04, again asking for a response. Later on 11/02/04, I received the following:
Dear John James: Rebate ID: 63864544
Thank you for your rebate inquiry. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that you may have had. We are unable to honor your rebate request because this particular rebate promotion is closed. We are very sorry for any inconvenience.
Unfortunately, we do have to abide by the guidelines of the promotion, and we are unable to honor your rebate. We truly apologize for any inconvenience.
We appreciate your participation in this promotion. If there is anything else we can do to assist you, please contact us at
