On 4/6/2004, I took my 2001 Grand Prix GT to Patrick Pontiac with a transmission problem. The issue is accurately described in the work order as:

"After slowing down and then on light acceleration car will slip and then it may clunk into gear, sometimes it shutters on acceleration (50-55 mph), d**k road tested with customer and pressure selenoid sticks at times, Trans addapts at 6.23 sec.. remove valve body and clean and replace pressure control selenoid."

After two days without a car, I got back to the dealership to pick up my "repaired" vehicle. It wasn't a few hours before I realized that the transmission slipped just as badly as before, if not worse. A few days later, I take it back to the dealership when "senior tech", d**k, comes out with me to see the persistent problem. He then goes on to convince me that the problem is normal b/c when one lets off the gas pedal and represses it, the PCM gets "confused" on what gear the vehicle should go into.

(So my question is: if that's the case, what was he fixing in the first place? OR is it now normal all of a sudden after he couldn't fix it without replacing or rebuilding the transmission?)

20,000 miles later, now my car won't shift into fourth gear, and the slipping between first and second got much much worse. Because the car is no longer under warranty, I currenty am having the transmission rebuilt for a cost of $2,500. When I told Clint, at Eagle Transmission service about the above episode, he laughed saying: "slipping between gears is never normal, REGARDLESS of how the car is driven". It is my contention that this money should've have been paid by GM at the onset of the problem. And because Patrick Pontiac failed to fulfil warranty repairs honorably (In my opinion, this was done with GM's blessing), I am now out $2500.

To further illustrate the lack of professionalism exhibited by Patrick Pontiac, I would like to mention a separate issue I had with the car. When summer came around and I first turned on the air conditioner in the car, it would make a horrendous noise at higher RPM's. After getting the usual "Could not recreate symptoms" from the dealer, I went out with "senior tech" d**k again and recreated the symptoms for him. After which he, to my surprise, plainly said that he has no idea what's causing the noise and that I must wait till the problem manifests itself in other ways. (funny, but true!)
