Had a similar problem with BMW, though not as much money. Had a 10 year old 528 that was involved in an accident. The est. to repair from the local BMW place was 3K. The value of the vehicle was 6K. USAA says do I want the 6K or do I want the car repaired? Tell them I like the car go ahead and fix it. BMW had it for 6 weeks and every week I'd get another statement from the BMW place for more repairs that the ins. co. authorized, came to 7,000+. Got the car back and it didn't work for jack. All kinds of problems, had it back in the shop numerous times but it never did work properly after the repairs. If you read some of the posts here from people who have bought used cars they find out that the car was wrecked. The only option you might have is with your ins. co. or the legal system. Otherwise do what I did and trade it in and take the hit. You can't show a loss until you get rid of the vehicle or try and see what Paul Miller will give towards a trade-in. Good luck.
