KJ, I've tried to understand exactly what you are claiming to be a rip off but so far all I can ascertain is that you're mad that you tried to cancel your paypal account and ebay or someone you still owed money to took fees? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, give a clear concise run down of what happened to you for you to claim PayPal is a rip off. And please, no insect references or claims that Ebay fees are equivalent to loan sharking because, no offense, it just makes you sound a bit nutty. Just a clear understandable description of what exactly happened to you so we cna try to help. Thanks

I sell classic cars and parts on Ebay. Strickly a hobby, I don't have a 'shop' or 'store' on Ebay. So, I sell a car for 16K. There is a $40.00 fee to list, and about a $45-50 final value fee when it sells. So, it costs me less than $100 to make $16,000. I sell a $50.00 part. It costs about 1.25 to place the ad, and another buck or so when the item sells. So, that's around $2-3 to make $50. So, if someone racks up hundreds of dollars in fees, that means they have made THOUSANDS of dollars in sales. Yes, they are required to pay. As it's only fair, since they wouldn't have made that much money if it hadn't been for Ebay, or any other venue they chose to sell from. So, your logic doesn't compute. How can it be illegal to collect fees because Ebay doesn't put a cap on seller's accounts?? Doesn't make any sense at all.

I was responding to subscriptions and the like that sometimes cause legitimate calamities, like with webhosting companies that ignore cancellations, and the like. But if Ebay, doesn't put a limit on peoples Seller Accounts, then technically that is against the law to collect the money any way they want any time they want. There are priorities in life. Life isn't perfect. If a person is poor, and they sell on ebay for extra money, and rack up too high of a bill, that is similar to gambling, lottery laws, and even loan-sharking.

Just because you deleted you bank and credit card info doesn't mean they still can't get their money if you owe it to them. It sounds like you didn't wan't to pay their fees, and thought by deleted your account info, they couldn't get their money... wrong, 'Ant'. They maintain a complete back-up system and even though you tried to scam your way out of paying, the backups have your information. It states write in your terms and conditions that they can collect their fees no matter what.
