PC Magazine promoted a product that ripped me off. I purchased a one-year subscription to BitDefender anti-virus software mainly because PC Magazine promoted BitDefender. As my one-year subscription was nearly due to auto-renew, I tried to cancel my subscription online. That didn't work, so I called BitDefender customer service and was told that they would forward my cancellation request to their "sales" department. I said, "No, I don't need sales; just cancel the subscription." The operator said my request would have to go through sales. I tried multiple times with multiple other operators to get the subscription cancelled; they kept telling me that I'd hear from "sales," but I never did. Well, long story short, BitDefender attempted to auto-renew my subscription anyway! They tapped my credit card for the annual renewal fee.

I hold PC Magazine accountable for promoting BitDefender. I wrote another RippOff Report about BitDefender, but I also want it known that PC Magazine unethically promoted an unethical company. I will never -- and I encourage everyone to never -- trust PC Magazine reviews.
