PC Tools Send Your $$$$ to PC Tools and Watch Your CPU STOP WORKING!!!! Shannon Co Ireland Internet
After reading the impressive promotional information all over the internet about how the PC Doctor was going to fix my problem with viruses & spyware, I fell prey, bought it and downloaded it.
I had to go away on business for a week and when I came back my wife told me that something was wrong with the computer. I turned it on and watched in horror that everything was taking FOREVER to process.
When I monitored the processor, I saw that PCAV.exe was the application running and consuming the majority percentage of CPU usage. It was gobbling as much memory as the next 30 processes combined. When I opened the graphic showing the activity of my cpu it was spiking at first and then flat lined at 100%!
I went to the technical support and they had me do a couple of things which were complex and did NOTHING to fix the problem while all the time having to put up with a CPU running at 100% serving both PCTAV.com & pctsSxc.exe. It took forever to type the commands they gave me and then another forever to have the "Non PC Tools" program to run.
I finally muscled my way in and removed (it took one hour and 25 minutes) the entire suite of programs purchased from PC Tools and rebooted.
Once I got rid of the programs my computer returned to normal.
How is it that there is so much positive press on these people when their product is such crap?
