I received a telephone call from someone called Nathan Sander.
Told me of their holiday offer for $900 and gave me web-site to see details.
Told me they had been given my details by credit card company. When pressed said they could not reveal who.
I was very sceptical, but agreed to pay 100 until I received details in the post, in the knowledge I could cancel within 15 days and receive a full refund (as promised by them)
To improve offer they reduced the price by 100, added an extra holiday in Mexico and said the holidays could be taken anytime in the next 5 years.
Then passed to a Rick King who said he was the manager. He confirmed all the details and said they would send e-mail confirmation within 3 hours.
Then passed to a Jeffrey John who said the details were recorded and that the offer was open to 6 people. I gave him my credit card details. He said it would appear on my credit card as Divine Vacations.
I did not receive th promised e-mail.
I went on web to check their web-site again and google brought up Peabody Vacations Scam. PANIC
I checked my credit card account and saw there was a pending charge of 632.32.
I telephoned my credit card company who said they could not do anything as it was a pending charge.
I telephoned the number on the web-site - this was unobtainable.
I telephoned the number given to me over the phone and it was answered by a Robert Cooper. He denied there was any scan and said the web-site was incorrect and went on to tell me how wonderful they were. He confirmed that only 100 ($133) would be taken from my card.
He also said that the web telephone number was not working because of a power outtage.
He said I had not received the e-mail as they were sent out in batches by a processor.
I did receive an e-mail in a few hours, but it only said the same as the web-site, no indication of the items agreed the night before.
I checked my credit card account to find that they had now, illegally, taken 632.32.
Another call to the credit card company said I should send a recorded delivery letter cancelling the holiday and requesting a full refund. I did this, also e-mailed to credit card company and Florida Dept of Agriculture & Consumer Services.
I did receive a letter from Peabody, which was the same as the web-site, not all the details and agrred items as they had promised.
I have received no confirmation that the holiday is cancelled and surprise, surprise NO REFUND.
I should have known better, but I thought I was protected by only paying a small deposit and the right to cancel.
