BEWARE! I recently tried to buy a $219 Tumi bag from Peach Direct, and Peach Direct tried to charge me $219 for SHIPPING, for a total of $438!

To put it in context, no other piece of luxury luggage or designer handbag on the whole site ships for more than $49 - not even a $2800 Prada bag. Also, ALL other Tumi products ship for $29.

I twice pointed out this mistake to their phone support (the surly supervisor wouldn't even come to the phone, and denied that this is even an error); once to their online help department. I never heard back from them, and they never fixed the shipping in their database. Charging $219 for shipping on a $219, one-pound, USA-based item is CLEARLY a typo! Who would pay DOUBLE for shipping, even if it's insured? It'd be like paying $17,000 EXTRA for a $17,000 car!

I, luckily, was able to cancel my order, and had the charge expunged...but I wouldn't feel right unless I warned others about the ultimately shady company that is Peach Direct...want to see this Rip-Off for yourself? On their site, check out their item #16479, and hit BUY, you'll see the price doubled, still uncorrected after two months. Still need proof? Read one of the other DOZENS of complaints about them below, and find another place to spend your money!

I'm the writer of the above, original complaint here, and some genius from Peach Direct FINALLY corrected the shipping mistake...the one where they tried to charge $219 SHIPPING for a $219 bag...the new shipping is $29, like I'd said all along! I only wish they'd listened to me at all when I'd pointed this out, even if they were only 'humoring' me, maybe other people finally complained enough to make them pay attention. The lack of personal contact has made - and has KEPT - me vary, vary wary of working with them again (the 'dkim' default, standard email responses posted only here inspire no confidence I'm afraid).

Peachdirect is legit; you have nothing to worry about.

About a week after my wife and I ordered a 42" television from Peachdirect, I decided to check online and make sure that they were not involved in any suspicious dealings or ripoff tactics. Needless to say after finding this forum, I became quite worried. So, I took the advice given at the end of Chester Dodge's comments and e-mailed [email protected] with my concerns. Let me tell you, I was glad that I did. He gave me a phonecall soon after and was extremely helpful and perhaps the friendliest person I have dealt with in quite some time. He explained to me that the 100-plus complaints were a result of too many orders and too little supply during this last holiday season. He also stated that peachdirect is working to cut shipping times down to 3-5 business days rather than weeks, and that in the next 6-8-months customers will see a tracking number on their order status within a day or two of ordering. He checked and was able to ensure that my television was leaving the warehouse and would arrive shortly. He then provided contact information for the air-freight delivery company (Pilot Air Freight), as well as a tracking number. I was able to track my package and see its exact wherabouts. He then provided me with his personal line at Peachdirect so that I could bypass the 800-number reps and deal directly with him. He was quite friendly and voiced that he would love for me to call him and let him know when the television arrived. Peachdirect has a B rating on the Better Business Bureau website, which is considered Good, but had it not been for their oversight in supply vs. demand around the holidays, they would have an A rating. And because they have amended all problems, they probably will work their way back up to it. In summation, I belive them to be a wonderful company, and I will definitely deal with them again. Their merchandise wasn't damaged, was in great condition, and it sure didn't take a month to get here (like some people are insisting it does). I look forward to dealing with them in the future. Sure you may pay some interest, but it's better than footing the entire bill right away.
