This report is necessary, unfortunately, to file due to the fact that there are no true controls over such fraudulent practices by spec home builders such as this one.
We had a frightful experience with the company who sent huge bi-weekly bills with no justification, and would argue with the client once on-board for renovations.
Complaints by the homeowner would be ignored and even downplayed.
The lack of management caused numerous structural issues that had to be repaired by a second more competent and caring builder, and of course, the homeowner was left on the hook to pay for all of the repairs to the bad workmanship.
The lack of project management, the overbilling, the bad attitude made the homeowner wonder why they vied so much for the job in the first place.
But then we were later explained that a spec home builder often will take on renovations in order to pay for other projects and to "float" themselves in a bad economy.
We were shocked to also find that this company would inflate sub-contractor bills, such as the insulation and other subs, in order to have a higher mark-up and profit for themselves.
To just do a good, honest job was all that was expected. Instead, we got a dishonest, disorganized, overbilled, overpriced disaster that cost us a lot of money to have repaired by someone else.
We were very surprised given the fact that they seemed so nice in the beginning upon first meeting and by the fact that they kept calling us for the job and made such big promises to us prior to being contracted for a renovation.
This website is the only place where I can possibly warn other homeowners to be careful when they hire anyone for a renovation to their beloved home.
