PeoplePC - Earthlink ripoff Deceptive Claims of Smart Dialer Performance San Francisco California
PeoplePC makes false claims regarding the purpose and functionality of their "Smart Dialer" connection manager version 6.1.3.
They state, "PeoplePC Online's Smart Dialer technology connects you to the highest quality, most available number every time, so you always have a fast connection at speeds up to 56k."
This statement simply is not true and, in fact, is deliberately deceptive. PeoplePC will connect at substandard dialup speeds less than half their advertised speed and do so regardless of the availability of a faster connection via one of their alternate local access numbers.
Actual connection speeds are regularly 24 Kbps and rarely higher than 33.2 Kbps since installation of the newer 6.1.3 connection manager. Higher speeds were previously obtained on a regular basis with connection manager 5 version using the same access numbers. Once 6.1.3 has been installed, attempts to re-install the older connection manager fail even after uninstalling 6.1.3.
They have been contacted numerous times regarding this issue, and at no time did they address the issues presented. Rather, PeoplePC has dodged the issues presented and have made excuses and unsubstantiated explanations for what is causing the slower connection speeds.
