I was asked to help an elderly woman who had paid Peoples First Financial to assist with a loan modification on her home mortgage. The woman contacted PFF in May to retain their services. She paid $3495.00 for this service.

In November the client received a notice from her Lender that the home was going to be sold at an auction. The client contacted PFF only to get the run around again and again. She later was told by PFF that the associate handling her account was no longer with the company.

In November the client contact her own mortgage company and submitted her request for a modification. The mortgage company then advised that they had not "ever" spoken to anyone from PFF and that they had only received a letter of authorization from PFF on July 29th 2008.

The client tried numerous times to get PFF to refund her money so that she could use it to try to reinstate her loan with her mortgage company, but was denied be PFF. The client then asked for my help. We conference called PFF and advised them that the client was not satisfied with their service, that nothing had been done on the loan and that there was a sale date pending in January.

PFF associates refused to allow the client to speak to a supervisor, hung up on the client numerous times and continually gave her excuses about refunding her money.

This company is a fraud to say the least.

It is difficult to offer any resolution to someone posting complaints with no facts and using an alias. Please contact Peoples First Financial directly as we will require more detail and specifics in order to investigate these claims.

Advice for those "Ripped Off" by Peoples First Financial

I have learned much since my own difficulties with Peoples First Financial. According to the California Attorney General, it is illegal for a company to charge the full amount of the contract prior to negotiating a "Loan Modification". If they fail to achieve the Loan Modification, they must refund any monies paid. I am working with the Attorneys General in both Michigan and California as well as the BBB to get this done. PFF if rated "F" with the BBB. In all of the responses I have received from PFF with the BBB mediating, PFF has falsely represented themselves and the work they claim to have done for me. Just like you, my mortgage company received only the authorization letter and nothing else in a span of 3 months. I was not behind in my mortgage payments when I contracted with PFF and like you started to receive letters about a "Sheriffs Sale" of my home in January. I negotiated with my mortgage company in one 15 minute phone call to stop this sale and get my mortgage back on track. This however has cost me dearly and I have had to pawn precious jewelry and other goods to raise enough cash to stop this sale. Please contact your Attorney General about your situation, as I did, so that the hammer will one day fall on this despicable company. You will also find a rather informative guide on the California Attorney General website about how to deal with this problem. Good Luck, Don (Warren, Mi)
